This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I wanted to strangle myself after trying to vector this scene. I. Can't. Vector.

On a lighter note, this is one of my favorite scenes from Sailor Moon are and so I went to look up the episode and screencap-ed it. Usagi's crying in a telephone booth, for those who haven't watched it.
SPOILER (click to view)
Mamoru starts having nightmares. So in order to protect Usagi, he purposely says things to hurt her to end their relationship.
I don't know if there was rain in the actual scene, but I wanted a rainy, sort of watercolor-y feel to it. >_>; It's a very different style than what I usually try. Plus, it's my first time attempting rain, so it might look a little funny?
The vectoring took about 12 hours, and the rest of it another 6. I wanted to keep the text simple and unintrustive. Borrowed some of the the screencap's colors, others I moused in myself.
There are times when I really wish I had a tablet, and this was one of them. XD
Lovely...it's been a while since I last saw a good SM wall,...or any SM wall for that matter XD
But though it took you so long, I can see it payed off, here you are in first place in top today's Top Rated =D
Grats ^^. And yep, it deserves it, the screencap is so blurry and low quality, I admire your courage for taking it on :P
Anyway, the rain...doesn't really show, but doesn't matter, it's pretty nonetheless.
Zomg, I always wondered why Usagi was crying in the phone booth (because I've only watched the first few seasons of the English version on TV)! Thanks for telling, lol. I'm amazed at how you made this wallpaper from the screencap! The colors depict the mood so nicely! I like how the red is so red but it doesn't really stand out. I think it should be blurred a bit though, to fit in more. And I really like the title~ Oh, oh, and it looks so much like it's raining. I must fave! Lol, you got an S rating!
P.S. my username is related to Sailor Moon lol!

I like the wall very much, but something about it felt awkward. So I stared at it for a while, and I knew it was something about the phone booth, but I wasn't sure what. After some more staring, I realized, it looks like you used vanishing points to figure out where a lot of the lines go, like the white railing and some, but not all of the lines on the phone booth. The lines that you should have used the vanishing point for, but didn't, are both the sides of the phone booth that don't go perfectly straight like this -. My guess is, because of that, the lines for the panes on the back side of the phone both are probably wrong, and its because the other lines don't go to the vanishing point that the panes there look so much bigger than the front ones. I think what you did is, instead of having all the horizontal lines that should go to the vanishing point go to the vanishing point, the most of the lines in the panes of those two sides were made to be parallel to the very top line of the window pane, or, some of them go to a different vanishing point, but there should only be one.
If you didn't use vanishing points, but just traced the screencap... well, if you wanted to fix the phone booth thats how ^^;;
To my I do not like much history of sailor moon but, history does not have to do nothing with this art! BY GOD THIS BEAUTIFUL ONE! I LOVE.
the vectoring, I would not do it better, truely!
the wallpaper has finished like a species of watercolor, but I finish giving account that seems that you do had a little of problem with screencap (I talk about by the edges of wall)
It is amazing! This wallpaper presents Usagi's sorrow perfectly.
The red phone booth in the center is an obvious contrast to the green-tuned background.
It is very clear to do so. I appreciate this arrangement.
The rain effect is also nice. The street and the trees are not drew in detail, but this surely enhances the sorrowful feeling given by this wallpaper.
Thanks for sharing your work. Great job!
At first look i didn't even recognize that this is a sailor moon walley (yikes!).. the soft color looks very ghiblish.. very calming and peaceful.. only when i read your comment then only i knew it is actually a sad scene... you made it became a beautiful sad scene... love it

Tools: Photoshop CS2, encephalon [or lack thereof XD]
Time: 18+ [No, not rating. Time. Time. :P]
Original screencap: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v408/SueAnna/d69e19d9.jpg
When I was done, I showed it to my mom, and then showed her the original screencap. She blinked at the screen and said, "I don't see the difference."
I really am trying to improve in skill, (and on those C- ratings). XD Thus, tips/advice will be received with violent affection. ^^
Other than that, worked super hard on this, so I really hope you like it. < 3
