This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
(well, maybe not from that site, but you get the idea of the reference image lol)
Ugh, I hate vectoring. It's not hard, it's just time consuming and BORING. -_-
okay, so for this wallpaper, i really tried to give it that no black line just colors look (which was easy being that wind waker HAS no black lines) and to combine hard shapes usually used in vectors with soft colors and gradients (such as seen in link's face). I also added some textures (from Desktop anime aka tama neko's place, along with textures from sxc.hu) to give the wallpaper a little soft worn feel. I also made this feeling consistent with the color of the wallpaper by softening up the colors just a tad. Overall, this wallpaper was a good amount of work and I just feel it's done.
Hope you guys enjoy it! (or else the pain of vectoring will continue until it's a deep burn in my brain X_X)
Um my comment didn't show up before. ._.
So I'll say basically what I said before:
I am SO GLAD that you stuck with this wall and didn't give up like you wanted to *nudge nudge* ^.^
It's so nice and clean and looks much better than the original scan.
I love love love the positioning of everything, especially the clouds, and the colours and the birds are a nice touch too.
The vectoring was a lot of work, but it was definitely well worth it! +fav
About the wall, well the vectors are pretty good. I see that you're going for a 3D effect like in the game. But i think a pop art style would look better. Still a lovely wall though, and this would look great on my desktop. =3 Oh and yeah vectors are so boring to do...but the results are totally worth it. ^_^
P.S: Link looks so much like a lego person. xD (i Love lego btw)
Now I've possibly seen 100 wallpapers created from that scan and they all plainly suck because people either spend too little attention fixing the quality or add too many effects. Therefore I'm just very reliefed to finally see this pic turned into a wall the way it should: clean, detailed and nice to look at.
OMG OMG OMG OMG *freaks out* ITS WINDWAKER AND ITS ZELDA! AHHH! MY MOST FAVORITE GAME EVER THE BEST GAME IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND. [/freaking out]
oh GOSHHH. I love you forever for this wall. Do you know how bad Ive been wanting a windwaker wall? Dang, I do wish this wasnt widescreen though. Its going to get funny squished on my monitor and i dont want to crop it. its bold, its bright, and its HAPPY like windwaker! T___T My stupid bro sold the game a while ago without asking me. I really miss it, and I want to buy it but college is starting soon AND they came out with twilight princess! (which I still need to play!)
sailing was always the best...ahhh the music was great, the lovely wind, the seagulls flying with me..(haha i always tried to get the seagulls to fly with me). the temples and stuff are always freaking long in zelda but theyre worth it! Plus, Ive never hated the music in Zelda (ish having some problems with the Final Fantasy XII music)

Good wallpaper about Zelda Wind waker, the scan is pretty clean and the effects are correctly done. Cute Link in his boat, the sea at his feet and all the world to explore. Great wall for a wonderful game.
Continue doing things like this, they are great ^^
This is a nice wallpaper but it looks a little bit to much like a screen shot from the game. Don't get me wrong I still like this wallpaper its really nice and simple I just think you could have done alot better. Good job anyways. Keep up the good work.
Oo this is really cute! I looked at the scan you made it from and i did a really great job vectoring it. ^^ I like the seagulls O.O <--seagulls eyes.. loL! fav!

Very sweet
Hehe, I wouldn't call vectoring process boring, but time consuming it surely is!
Anyway, love what you did and how you did it, I don't see anything worth complaining about.

Nice wallpaper, great job in vectoring this scan of Link from The Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker :D Really like the colors, there so clean and vibrant. Good job and keep up the excellent work, hope to see some more great work from you soon, definitely adding this wallpaper to my favorites for sure! :D
Its looks really nice :) .. the style is really cool and i like the way you color :) .. the texture in the background is hard but i like the final look .
its really taking me back to "Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker" .. :) .. keep up the good work .. + favorite .
Looks great. It's a nice touch that you made it not too game-ish and converted some of the darker areas into a soft blend. I'll have to forward this piece over to a friend of mine who is a big Nintendo fanatic. I know he'll love this piece.
I have been WANTING a wallpaper featuring this image! Beautiful job in vectoring the image yet retaining the original feel while adding a dash more softness.
