This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
My dual screen wallpaper got deleted (ages ago), so I'm uploading the split version. Here's the first half. Chroma Anime has the dual screen version.
EDIT: Since people probably want to know, here's the explanation behind the wallpaper. No fairy tales. Just how this wallpaper came to be.
I did this for a contest a long time ago. The rule was to use a scan that had our sorcerer here, the lady in #2, and the stairway in #2. Before I retired, I would usually repaint the scans I use, but for this contest, the rule was not to edit anything. Just the background. The contest organizers said that, "it was out of respect for the artist, Yoshitaka Amano."
I figured the best way to honor Amano's artwork was to make them the focal points of the wallpaper (and somehow still be creative). For this wallpaper, you will see the clock and the sorcerer. The idea of a purple and black checkered wall was also taken from one of Yoshitaka Amano's works.
Lastly, the light and dark effect was unintentional. But to the people who like the contrast, thank you. I'm glad.
Okay, as I say on your next wall, this is better, even that I hate dark walls a bit. I adore the clock from the bg. Anyway, thanks for walling and it's a nice. =_______=
Yes the clock is awesame ^^ But one think I don't like and that is the texture over the whole wallpaper. ( Can you make one without texture!) But anywhere your work is great. ^^ And yes you have a nice site! It is yours?
This Wallpaper is Awesome and Great.
Concept and Idea of This Wallpaper is Unique and Creative.
Clock May be Expresses Time to the Future or the Destiny and Dark Colors with Nice Blendings are Very Impressive and Fantastic.
Thanks for Your Good Work.
I love dark wallpapers! This is a very strange wallpaper. The clock in this wallpaper reminds me of Salvador Dalí's Persistence of Memory. This wallpaper sort of has a dark feeling to it, and I like that. The vines add to the dark feeling of the wallpaper by making it look even creepier. I really link the stary robe that the guy is wearing, it makes him seem mystical and mysterious and once again adds to the darkness. This is truely a unique wallpaper and I really think it is a morbid work of art. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work!
The background is looking good, the colors and patterns are very nice, the clock looks good. The character is looking good, he fits to the background well. Nice wallpaper.
Wow! This is very beautiful! I love the dark feeling it possesses and the surrealism of the scene. The only thing that I maybe don't like is the textures but nevertheless it is an awesome wallie!

The vines and the clock look awesome. I love the vintage look this has, great job.
This is my favorite of the two halves, I like the smooth blending and the non-obstrusive texture over everything the most.
