This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
This was done way back in 2004 too. It was my second attempt in digital painting although there are a lot of hiccups here and there. Some comments which I have received before are “background too blurry” which is true, since I’m doing it at its exact resolution. I then found out from the thumbnails generated, it is better to start off big (2x resolutions) and then resize it to the desire resolution for painted background.
The Joe scan took me quite awhile also, to clean up the noise using 5% smudge method and adding extra lighting for her to fit into the scene.

Hmm, I don't really like your wall. I think the artwork can't be use out of the original draw, but it's only my advise, and I appreciate the job you did. So your wall is good, but not for me :p

The background fits really nicely with the character and the colours. I've seen another wall with the same character, but their background wasn't as good.
Im loving the scan used for this wallpaper and the smudged background adds a nice contrast that emphasizes the girl which is good but i think it would look better with a nice 3d background

The background isn't too blurry. It almost gives it that photographic property, where something upclose is clear, but the background is blurry.
