This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
This was done way back in 2004 too. It was my second attempt in digital painting although there are a lot of hiccups here and there. Some comments which I have received before are “background too blurry” which is true, since I’m doing it at its exact resolution. I then found out from the thumbnails generated, it is better to start off big (2x resolutions) and then resize it to the desire resolution for painted background.
The Joe scan took me quite awhile also, to clean up the noise using 5% smudge method and adding extra lighting for her to fit into the scene.
I think you should just slightly blend the edges of the girl into the background that might fix the problem of the background being "too blurry" because its been very well done and it goes well together
excellent work!
I'm not going to tell you how awesome this is, because you should already know. Really. I love it. + to my Favourites. If I could, I've send you $20 and a box of cookies just for the talent alone.
It's great the overall feel I think, although background blurry, of course due to the stretch of the pixels still fited ok. But for some reason though this background really really really reminded me of the garden school whatever that was in Final Fantasy Vi, is this where the setting were at? I don't know it just looked so much like from there.
Anyways great job on the character and the composition of the wallie
Cheers
