Sometimes you find an image online or in a magazine and you know you're going to have to wall it, no matter how small it might be or bad the image quality is. This wallpaper is an example of that situation...

I found this image of Lei as part of an add for vol. 1 of the DVD in Newtype a while back, but it took me a while to clean it up and redraw the bottom half of Lei so he wouldn't be too short in the wallpaper. For the background, I decided to go for an impressionist grunge scenry, with the dark silhouettes of skyscrappers and buildings slowing fading back into every-present shadow of The Gate. The bridge and truck were a late addition, but I think they work out well, especially with all the mist/fog effects I added.

The text is from an old song I really like, it seemed to fit the mood. Scanning in newspaper clippings from the 70's finish everything off. Download and enjoy.

Awesome job on the effects. They really do set that mood you were going for.
I agree with you on the adding the truck too, I think that was a very cool idea and the rear lights came out good as well. Lei looks great, you can't even tell he had to be cleaned up. Yeah..to shorten this up, everything looks great xD

Very good. At first I didn't like the red lights (didn't really fit into the image colours) but I changed my mind after looking at the wallpaper in detail. Maybe the letter's should have stood out more but in the mist it is still very effective. It deserves a +fav in my books, keep up the good work.

I like this wall a lot. I'd probably like it more if i had seen darker than black, but oh well.
This to me, is the true redxxii style. While you try out dfferent styles, grunge is the one you are by far best at. And thats cool with me, cause I'm also a grunge whore >_>
Anyways, love this wall, so it totally gets a fav from me.

Oh my,oh my this guy is so hot in this one.I simply love the background it's like it makes the character even more impressive.I really like the background and the colors and also the texture doesn't seem the usual one and the effects are again very good.The background is perfect for this guy.For sure a favorite from me!

This is really beautiful, I love the affects. I think the only thing I don't like is the text. It distracts from the image a little, in my opinion. Considering how great the image is, we don't want that!

You might try alternate colors as well. Some of the greens and dark colors taken from the other scans.
