This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I actually spent a good amount of time with this wall and had some help/advise given to me from my sister. It's still not perfect but it works, especially because the image itself is very cartoon-y.
I got the idea to make the moon from the movie, The Nightmare Before Christmas, because of the whole blood on the moon saying and since it's Halloween night, what better than a creepy moon. Some people might not like how it has no texture but when I put some on it looked too 3D compared to the rest of the picture.
I did my best with the concrete. In time I will probably get better at it, but for now go easy on me because it is my first attempt.
Well, I hope you like and I hope everyone has a fun and safe Halloween! xD
P.S. I just barely found out what series the image comes from. It looks like a cute one.
What a perfect wall to add during this time of year, haha thats pretty creative i like that. The wall itself is really neat, the art of it is kinda different though, not in a bad way, just different. The lighting is also nice i like that. and besides Gakuen Alice =) one of the cutest walls i seen yet for this series. keep up the fine creative ideas.
Great concept, however there are several flaws in your execution.
The character extractions could be cleaner, and the blending, lighting and colors could use some work.
As a critique I would recommend softening the shadows, and cleaning up the characters a bit more. I would also (since you are going for the cartoony look) Use some flat color rather than shading. It would really help push it an a better direction. It is a great start though.
Oh gosh! Another Gakuen Alice Wallie! I'm sure glad you picked this Halloween scan. Mikan-chan is so kawaii in her witch costume. It has a great concept.
The extractions need improvement. You could do some shadow effects. And the background is not really that realistic. The scan doesn't seem to blend well. But it's cute and I like it.
Oooh, cute and dark, just my favourite kind of wallpaper! The background and the characters don't seem to fit well together, and the tree looks kinda odd, but still. Good job :)
The background brings out the cuteness really well XDDD
my only critique would be that the characters seems a little big for the background?
It's still a lovely Halloween wallie, though ^^

I hope my crit helps you as you progress.
I like the play perspective with the subjects being flat paper cut outs.
