This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Ever seen a vintage poster?
well this wall was inspired by those pieces of art
eureka viewed in the 20's-30's era
everything was very well done, everything was drawn/vectored and then painted nicely...now that's what you call putting in effort :D
Just so you know, I'm a bit of a vintage junkie. I was a 1920's gangster this last Halloween. *Tis true* I also love Vintage Posters. Which is where this comes in. I'd been meaning to try a wall with that sort of feel, and even managed to drag Taters along. The specific inspiration for me was the Absinth Robette poster Privat Livemont made. After I made my start with this wall, it turned more towards Alphonse Mucha's art style.
I vectored the lineart for the scan, then painted it with my trusty Wacom Artpad II in PS. Bg's more vectoring and other stuff, with textures and screentones.
And would you look at that. There's no song this time. Or is there? :P The title, "Oh, My Shadow," is a song by Corpus Callosum, and is supah fine.
I love the feel of this wallpaper! :) The colors are very vivid and the scenery is so full of imagination. The image you used is quite unique, and almost looks like a painting. Wonderful job!
