As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!
Everytime I listen to Long dream, it reminds me of Shiki . Maybe that could be her theme song (?). Oh, and don't forget "Transformers". That song really reminds me of Beat. (the remix of the song also remids me of Linkin Park for some unknown reason).
@BCB Enough to have the gist of you two minxes, but nothing deeper. @$Sashi How are you tonight? @~Loleta So catchy, I always loved it. Leah is great! Long Dream is great too.
Nothing much (although, it feels like I'm forgetting something). Anyways, I'm listening to "Calling" from T.W.E.W.Y, and thinking up a poem for my group. I'm becoming worried, though. I don't like working on poems out of work. I want to write poems out of
Ooh, it's been a while since my last submission, man I'm getting rusty >_>. I just recently finished watching Claymore, good series, though the ending was... meh. But I had to make a wall of it of course.
The DVD cover scan of Clare was found here, and the background was inspired by the ending credits. It was a pain to recreate the bg from a low-res screenie, and I threw in a lens flare even though I know that's usually frowned upon >_<. Eh, I think I made the rocks a little too comic book-ish though... Many hours have gone into this, as have many layers. All I have to say is the pen tool is the best thing since ramen (especially since I had to do this with a mouse :P). Enjoy ^^!
Edit: Changed the sky's overall color, and tweaked around with the rocks a bit. Thanks a lot for the suggestions ^^
Love the scan, like the sky, hate the rocks.
I know you can do better than that, which makes me think you just got lazy, or didn't know what to do with them. they just look...stock photo + filter : /
I would have also moved the sun over to the left just a smidge more. It needs just a little bit more to have the angle to cast so much light on that side. but thats me being nitpicky. Should be an easy fix though.
Also, I would do some color adjustment to the sky. considering the color of the scan, I'd add a color layer over the dark green parts of the sky. They just don't match color-wise.
I think the wall is okay, but it has so much potential to be great.
But ifn othing else...pleas...PLEASE fix the rocks ;-;
I agree with everything Kalico said. The concept is good (I was thinking of a similar one), but the execution doesn't deliver it as strong as it could. The rocks are a big issue for me, as they look too filtery. The colors are another thing...they don't seem to match completely. Maybe a gradient map over everything may tweak the colors a bit.
Great Claymore wallpaper, I like the selection of the scan and the background that suits perfectly. The flowers petals flying around makes the wallpaper better, is an interesting details that will make happy the fans of this wonderful series.
Continue doing things like this, they are pretty good ^^
The scene in this wall is great. I like the sky and all, but as others have mentioned, the rocks needs some fixing. =/ However i love the fact that you blurred and reduced the opacity of some of the petals. It has a nice and realistic effect on them. ;D
The sky is nice, the petals are great, the rocks.. well everyone else basically said everything about the rocks, hehe.
What stands out for me, though, is how paper-y the character looks over the background. She looks so flat and doesn't blend in well.. the monotone colour scheme on her just stands out so much against the background... maybe it is the scan's edges too.
Great concept, though.
Here's a basic question you should always ask yourself before adding effects to a wall, like flower petals, sun-beams, bubbles, sparkles, you name it... does it make sense and seem appropriate in the wallpaper? In this case, the flower petals are totally in the wrong place... Clare is walking through a barren wasteland with no vegetation behind here, so where did the flower petals come from? They might not look bad, but in the end it just makes it look like your adding fan-favorite effects hap-haphazardly just to cover up other problems in the wall. If you're going to add flower petals, put Clare in a grove of trees or something, or if she's walking through barren territory maybe instead of flower petals do something like grit and dust.
I don't meant to be too harsh, but I see a lot of wallers doing stuff like this (ie, sparkles and planets, ect) to make crappy wallpapers look better. Sometimes effects like this are appropriate, but most of the time it's just throwing out effects cause they're popular and they look cool.
As for the rest of the wall, it looks way too filter-heavy, like on the rocks and on Clare as well. It's not a bad wall overall, but I think it could be much better with a little effort and thought.
Wow... yesterday I was looking for a Claymore scan to make myself a wallscroll... and this one was the best scan I found (although didnt finally chose it :P). I like this design a lot, great work!!

colors and textures of petals is unsuitable for bg and charekter
