While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

i extracted the girls and in the BG i used a stock photo of some old building ,
and i changed the colors because i want it the wall to look like an old painting ,
i want the whole wall after i finish to be like an oil painting ,
and i used a lot of different textures .

Well, i am a novice with photoshop, so i can't tell you about textures&stuff, but i can congratulate you for your originality!! they really seem like two characters who live in an unsecure, poor neighbourhood, perfectly captured in an old painting. at least this is my opinion.
I love Hachiko and her baby (Satsuki) and I really enjoyed the effect you put in the paper...^^
