This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
All that writing in the background took such a long time! It's taken from the "How To Read" segments throughout the first two books (thankfully I didn't have to write any more than that!) I rendered the images of Light and L myself. L's hair gave me a fair bit of trouble, since it looked too light for the background, so I had to keep editing and editing to make it darker! The background is mostly just brushes, with some filters and blending mode changes - a nice dark theme to suit Death Note, don't you think?
Sorry for the low resolution, I promise all the walls I submit in future will be bigger! ;)
Show down of the century! Love it, the black and white contrast is very nice on the eyes and I think the writing in the back payed off because it looks great!
I don't know why, but I prefer simple and clean looking wallpapers like this one :]
The scan is really good, L and Kira look very cool in it.
As for the background, I don't usually like backgrounds with a whole bunch of letters in it, but in this case since he background color is black, it looks as if the background is actually the Death Note and in my opinion looks very impressive :]
Another thing I liked was the title in the center and the way some of the letters are twisted backwards and sideways
Overall, nice simple and clean wallpaper, I love it.
Excellent work, keep it that way :D
And I'll fav this since I like it so much ^_^ +fav
The way in which you made them both stand out is intriguing: Using their white shirts and their light skins against the generally all black background is a wonderful idea. I love the 'Death Note' title, as well, though it seems to be the general way in which it's portrayed, so I'll give you credit only for linking it with their shirts.
The text in the background, though faint, does add to the overall look. Without it, I'm sure it would look quite bland and plain. You captured their eyes so well too. You truly did a wonderful job. Well done!

However, it's a good work anyway, as for one of your first walls.
Keep it up.

Quizás es un poco simple...
Who is this? This is me. Who am I? What am I? What am I? What am I?
I am I. This object that is, is myself. That which forms me. This is the self that can be seen, and yet this is not like that which is myself. A strange feeling. My body feels as if it is melting. I can no longer see myself... my form, my shape fades from view. Awareness dawns of someone who is not me. Who is here? There? Beyond me, here. Shinji. This person I know. Major Katsuragi. Dr. Akagi. People, my classmates. The pilot of Unit Two. Commander Ikari. Who are you? Who are you? Who are you?"
L AND KIRA LOOKS COOL
EXCELLENT JOB
