This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
[edit] Oh yes, no brushes were used for this~ I didn't even know custom brushes existed when I made this xD;... (Back when I only had Photoshop 4). All of it was just done with blending the images together.
"I'd always wanted to make a Fushigi Yuugi wallpaper, but I'd never been able to find the inspiration. That is, until one day when I was flicking through my archives of volume 17 scans and I found this nice, subtely vague image of Tasuki from the imfamous "Inn" scene. Then I found a wonderful Blade of the Immortal image, and the idea for this wallpaper hit me."
Was amused to find a readme.txt in the old zip for this wallpaper XD. Ah... but my words back then pretty much sum up this wallpaper. To date, it still is my most fondly remembered wallpaper. I remember Hageshiku rated it as one of my top efforts of Deskmod when I submitted it back in 2001 (Or near enough. I've forgotten the exact dates of my wallpapers)
It's barely an anime wallpaper, with just that tiny sliver of an image of Tasuki's face. But... I think that's what I like about it. It's not cluttered; it's just a subtle collage of images and words. One of my best blend works, probably. I still remain fond of its subject matter after all these years too ;P. The text is from Tasuki's image song from the OAV's.
Again, apologies for any loss in quality. Barely any of the PSD's for my wallpapers survive, but I think the original was saved at a pretty high quality anyway.
I really like this...I like how the whole theme is more about the design that the anime! Sometimes I wish I could do that to wallpapers...but they never turn out looking too good. This is a job well done!
This is soo cool, I wish it were bigger!! it's hard to make a wal like this w/o people telling you there's too much white, but the emptiness works well! good job

Very nice and elegant wallpaper ^^
if you didnt say it was fushigi yuugi i wouldnt have noticed ^^
love the way you encorporated the lily and the rest of the background, it really all blends together, and you dont know when one starts and where it stops ^^ very nice concept. the font was also very nicely chosen/placed, it gives a nice sadness/insight about it ^^
love it ^^

This is awesome. The colours, small text and well.. the whole thing really looks awesome. I like the negative space on the left, it makes the design on the right so much more effective. Nicely done. :)
