This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
[edit] Oh yes, no brushes were used for this~ I didn't even know custom brushes existed when I made this xD;... (Back when I only had Photoshop 4). All of it was just done with blending the images together.
"I'd always wanted to make a Fushigi Yuugi wallpaper, but I'd never been able to find the inspiration. That is, until one day when I was flicking through my archives of volume 17 scans and I found this nice, subtely vague image of Tasuki from the imfamous "Inn" scene. Then I found a wonderful Blade of the Immortal image, and the idea for this wallpaper hit me."
Was amused to find a readme.txt in the old zip for this wallpaper XD. Ah... but my words back then pretty much sum up this wallpaper. To date, it still is my most fondly remembered wallpaper. I remember Hageshiku rated it as one of my top efforts of Deskmod when I submitted it back in 2001 (Or near enough. I've forgotten the exact dates of my wallpapers)
It's barely an anime wallpaper, with just that tiny sliver of an image of Tasuki's face. But... I think that's what I like about it. It's not cluttered; it's just a subtle collage of images and words. One of my best blend works, probably. I still remain fond of its subject matter after all these years too ;P. The text is from Tasuki's image song from the OAV's.
Again, apologies for any loss in quality. Barely any of the PSD's for my wallpapers survive, but I think the original was saved at a pretty high quality anyway.
I REALLY like this. I'm a fan of subtle, "less is more" composition. Not that I can pull one off myself, but I love when others do. ^^ New favorite FY wallpaper... I definetely think fire with these colors, and love that you used the manga artwork.
(Although the fact that Tasuki looks like Nakago in the crop is kinda scary. ;) Favoriting!
Very refreshing to see a simple and clean wallpaper. Very minimalist but its simplicity is ver captivating. I like how abstract it is as well. Nicely done on Photoshop4 I should say!
I really like this wallpaper. There's not too much going on throughout it, and it's all kept to the side, where my desktop icons won't interfere with it. I also like the mood of it. It captures the feel of the "Inn" episode. This is one of my favorite wallpapers.
Very nice Wallpaper. I like the background and the face in the scan is priceless. Great job with the mixing of colors and text. I like the colors you used in this wallpaper. Keep up the great work

WOW......Such a pretty wallpaper! I love how the white background and the red water contrast...*nodds* yup...a very beautiful wallpaper ^^ Please keep up the great work ^^

The slice of Tasuki's face gives to the wall some kind of mysterious ambience and the emptiness of the background detachs pretty well the flower and the words.
It's very simple and at the same time beautiful.
Very inspirating and of course, well done! ^_^
