This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
[edit] Oh yes, no brushes were used for this~ I didn't even know custom brushes existed when I made this xD;... (Back when I only had Photoshop 4). All of it was just done with blending the images together.
"I'd always wanted to make a Fushigi Yuugi wallpaper, but I'd never been able to find the inspiration. That is, until one day when I was flicking through my archives of volume 17 scans and I found this nice, subtely vague image of Tasuki from the imfamous "Inn" scene. Then I found a wonderful Blade of the Immortal image, and the idea for this wallpaper hit me."
Was amused to find a readme.txt in the old zip for this wallpaper XD. Ah... but my words back then pretty much sum up this wallpaper. To date, it still is my most fondly remembered wallpaper. I remember Hageshiku rated it as one of my top efforts of Deskmod when I submitted it back in 2001 (Or near enough. I've forgotten the exact dates of my wallpapers)
It's barely an anime wallpaper, with just that tiny sliver of an image of Tasuki's face. But... I think that's what I like about it. It's not cluttered; it's just a subtle collage of images and words. One of my best blend works, probably. I still remain fond of its subject matter after all these years too ;P. The text is from Tasuki's image song from the OAV's.
Again, apologies for any loss in quality. Barely any of the PSD's for my wallpapers survive, but I think the original was saved at a pretty high quality anyway.
I'm sorry to sound like such a newbie but I have no clue what you have up there. I never ever seen that on the show before. Looking at it from a different perspective, it look ok. BUt, I don't see how this is related to the show. Good effort on your part man. Add some more familiar characters, you know, just to have some kind of tie in.
Very nice wall. having the space on the side doesnt matter in fact it would not look as great as it does now if it was done with more material. Great Job!
I suppose this is one of those "A little goes a long way" type of wallpapers. I like it. The song is beautiful and I think your wallpaper captures it a bit. The colors seems to really portray the pain that the song is about. Were you trying to go for that?
Now this is what I call creativity! It`s very original, and the concept of this wallpaper is great!Yes, it doesn`t look like avarage anime wallie, but it`s a lot better! It`s the best FY wallpaper I ever saw, I must admit it... Instant fav !
