This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
The idea is from Air Gear manga. The character in the wall actually is Kazu. He is sitting in a corner, look up to the sky. He was saying " Those who seek for the big sky without fear of falling will never understand my feeling. When we look at the sky, it is big, but here . . . look, it is like we can reach out and grasp it..." something something... I don't remember ><
I love this scene, but my thought is a little bit different. Everyone seeks for their dreams. The greater your dreams are, the more difficult you can attain it. Sometimes it is impossible to attain your dreams, just like it is impossible to embrace the big sky. But sometimes ( "but" again-_-) you feel like you have the power to grasp it, to change your fate =^_^= ( when you sit in a corner, look up to the sky, you feel like you can reach out and grasp the moon, that's it )
It's an interesting wall - Most interestingly it works best when you view it at your native resolution. I'm using a 1024*768 and when I viewed the 1600 * 1200 it just looked like a big hand, but at 1024*768 I can see it as a whole so it makes more sense.
I would make two comments, I think. The first would be on the cracks--to me they seem to 'dainty'. Given the thick outlines used on the wall details, the cracks just seem too fein and feathery. I would beef them up to make them similar to the walls themselves.
The other is a little more difficult for me to explain. In terms of the texture on the walls, I think you've used a single texture for each wall face. Whilst this is okay, if you were to think more in terms of chopping it up and moving it about for the different 'parts' of each wall I think it would just add a little more of an element of realism that would just give it a little something extra.
It's nice to see a wall that has some fucking meaning. It seems people have forgotten this. The wall though, could be better. It looks like it was run through the style thing in Photoshop. It lacks depth and the moon looks pretty cheesy. It has a lot of potential, though.

Hope that makes sense.

Let's go see a movie, oohohohoo.
well anyways, it looks really unfinished. more color would be nice. I dont remember the night sky looking so boring.
The vector of the hand is perfect but the buildings could use some more work. Of course it's all about dark textures and little details...
I love the moon although not sure it's really blending that well with the really vector looking of the rest.
Is that a shooting star at the bottom of the sky?
Very nice wall! :)
Or not...
:D
It makes me think about achieving freedom. It's simple but well, I like it.
