As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. I've got the idea to make one dark and dizzy wallpaper from Serial Experiments of Lain.
This is one 2nd version. I did before one text version but some people said that one textless wallpaper could be better in this time.
I'll gonna upload the text version later to you later.
I spent 1 hour doing one manual blur at the principal scan (so bad quality scan >.<) and other 3 hours with contrasts and colors. I needed at least 12 layers to do this effect.
I'll wait some comments.
Contrast is too high
have you tried surface blur or median to get rid of the scans print pixels?>
i would have probably moved the entire image to the left a little so theres more black/white ratio, but then the focal point that is Lain, wouldnt be so interesting...
it would have been nice to see more visible the spider webs. make a new layer, and just paint the web lines manually or something.

Looks rather dirty still... But I think it helps the image. I wish the character detail was cleaner. However seeing as this is a dark wallpaper the imperfections help give it a gritty feel.

I like everything about the wall: positioning of the girl, butterfly, windows, colouring, lighting. Only thing that bugs me is the blurryness. XD but I'm sure alot of other people do like that, since you did it on purpose.

Amazing job - very surreal which is what I'm sure you were going for. However I will agree a bit with Dragn and say that it's a bit over-saturated and you lose some of the line details with that, but still excellent job!
