While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

They were by far my favorite team in the show, but it didn't last... I've wanted to do this wallpaper for a while because I liked the scan. But at the same time, I felt that the scan didn't really leave all that much room for a background. So I went with what fits them most: Unlimited Blade works! XD
I didn't reference any one shot in particular, but used a lot of the elements that I'd seen in different screenshots, like the clock gears, and the swords and the general coloring of the sky in that world. I had a ton of sparkles on the first go around, but then took a lot away so it would be darker with highlights instead of glowing.

The vectoring is extremely good, although I think Archer's face looks as though there are a few eyebrow lines missing o.o! Rin is done really well too!
What I like most however, is definitely the background, it looks really nice and fits greatly with the scan.

Overall a very clean and crisp look, and I'm glad you didn't go exactly by what the Unlimited Blade Works looks like in the anime - there's quite a bit of fog - as I don't think it would have worked as well.
Rin and Archer were my favorite team as well, it didn't last long like you mention and it kinda spoiled the rest of the anime for me because Shirou got on my nerves a heck of a lot and Saber is just -meh...Anyway, like I said, great use of the scan, the background is awesome, I love the amount of depth that you added in. I didn't notice how cool the background once on the first time that I looked at it, I needed a better look to see all the detail and effort that was put in it.
