This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
So uh... I don't really know what to say for this wallpaper.
I started the vector of Kan'u around the time the first episode of Dragon Destiny aired. I believe it to be around the end of February of 2007. So based on that information this wall was approximately 10 months in the making.
Vector is of a bunch of screencaps of the ending of the series, note: this is before the scans came out.
Initial idea was something like her underwater with bubbles and ribbons and stuff on top / next to her. Think wavy. Well after a while I found out that the initial idea was too complicated to go through with. IE: w00tazn is a lazy mofo. So I went with something simpler aka ripping off cola cola.
The vector and the base of the wall were done in march after that it's basically hiatus and me showing people the WIP saying how lazy/wallers blocked I was. So today I'm inspired to finally finish this crappy wall after watching the documentary "Helvetica". Essentially I redid a bunch of crap and then ended up going with this Magazine Advert theme, then I found some effect that made it look rusted/old and went with the grunge theme after that. Kinda reminds me of Need For Speed: Pro Street.
Oh well enough story, heres some stats:
74 layer Adobe Illustrator file
22 layer Adobe Photoshop file
7,304 hours of work

Sexy, sensual, and a tad too revealing, haha. But who cares, great work, clean vector and simple design.. Glad you didn't go for the 'wavy' version or whatever.

I love it, I absolutely adore this wallpaper! The lines, the splatters, even the text hiding a bit behind a line. The text behind her is a nice touch too. It's a shame that I'm still stuck with a standard definition monitor, so until I get a nice big widescreen LCD I won't be able to enjoy it in all of its glory. Still, great job on it, and I look forward to being able to enjoy it on a bigger monitor in the future ^-^
I don't actually recognize the character myself, although I have only seen through the first volume of the anime and only briefly flipped through the first manga at Borders, but I'm sure I'll meet up with her at some point!
Sexy ikkitousen wallpaper, but i kinda find the layer of dusty particles over the hair to be rather annoying. i think it may have looked better if the hair was a solid black with none of that extras in it.
WOW very good indeed
and is much simpler than your first idea and i think i would appreciate this more anyway so thanks for being as lazy as me!!

The fact that it's made from scratch only increases it's coolness.
