This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
I thik the grass could do with a little work - it's not really my area though, so I dunno how you could improve it as such. It just feels kinda flat and uniform at the mo. One thing I do think you need to do is add some shadows to the ground for the charas.
A simple way of getting shadows easily is creating a new layer, ctrl+clicking the chara layer, fill the shape that's created in black or dark grey, then use the edit>transform functions to manipulate the shape of the shadow so that it looks like it's on the ground. Then, chop off any bits that aren't needed using the ployon lasso tool and give the entire layer a 3-8 pixel gaussian blur. Finally, play with the opacity and blending modes to give it a good shadow effect.
Alternatively you can draw the shadow on, but that can be harder.
Very nice concept. Tris explains how to do shadows pretty well, as for the grass... all you need to do is work from the back forwards, starting from a small brush size and increasing the size by a few pixels for each new layer. Let them overlap and you'll get a nice perspective instead of flatness. Add some gradients for colouring.
Apart from that I like this wall.. but get rid of the title text :O
Very nice editing of the magazine page. Needless to say your background is nice but I still like that original beach one, if you can make an variation of it and post it would be greatly appreciated ^_^

Umm for the grass too you could make the back grass a darker color and lighten as you come up through the layers. Nice wind effect but I would totally get rid of the forever by your side thing it distracts from the Gundam Seed text beacuse it is so light. And you need shadows no way around it. But overall wonderfull job.
I really like the whole concept of the wall. I think that the mecha could use some fine touches, perhaps even vector it because the quality seems rather grainy when compared to the rest of the picture. Also the "Gundam Seed" font seems rather dull. I do like the background mountain scene and lighting of the piece however. I think you did a nice job with that.
I think that this was a genious idea. Despite the fact that their relationship is getting a little rocky in the anime, I love your idea to use their relationship as a terms of a link between gundam and love. I think that we can expect a lot more good works from you.
Very beautiful pic at 1st glance... i lov the mountain bg.
perhap some improvement(as suggested by many up there) may help...the grass is too fake, the choice of font is great, except that you should plan well which words that should be the main focus of the wall--- gundam, seed or forever by your side...anyway, nice pic

Love your concept. not bad for a second try, lot better than me anyways. cagalli looks really really sharp and the brightness different between her and the bg is too big, which causes it to be a bit uncomfortable to look at.
I'm a big fan of landscapes so when I saw this it caught my eye right away. I mostly do avatars or small projects but being around this place is inspiring me to try something grand. If anything null, great wallpaper and thanks for the inspiration.
