This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
This is Kanae Sumida from Byousoku 5cm ^_^
It took me about tree days to make this (most time spent talking in MSN >.>), and it came out much better than I expected \o/
Everything was vectored from two screencaps: and
The original background with Kanae was very blurred but I decided to make it more sharp.
The easiest part was definitely Kanae XD The most difficult one was the clouds!
I really hope you like it ^_^
EDIT:
As AssasinXXX asked a non-blured version, I decided to share it ^^'
(I still prefer the blurred one though XP)
I really have no idea of this if tit is a film or a series or whatever but the image is so clean and birght. i really like the collours of the art and the whole composition in it. the image is very nice
great job
Simple yet strong. The background needs some tweaking just around the grass where it borders the sky. Overall, you did a great job vectoring. Nice work. I'd have tweaked the color some shades on Kanae to fit the screenshot, yet her "glow" works just as well.
The title and wall fit well together. It definately gives the sense of 'horizon' noting that Kanae, as the cool surfer girl as she is, is staring off at the waves and raging ocean with that determination in her eyes.
5 Centimeters Per Second is probably my top favorite anime film right now. Cosmonaut was riveting and heart-breaking. It's great to see a wall dedicated to her strengths. There's another wall featuring Kanae with Tohno but you barely get to see them at all.
This one front up is nice.
I've got a wall idea taken from around the last scene in Cosmonaut that I'd really think would make a great wall but interms of making it happen I'm not good. Best hopes would be to commision an expert to realize it. If I can get a high-quality screenshot of it I'll send it your way if your interested.
Vectoring from an anime screenshot is extremly tough, I just experienced it myself. But
in this way we can have pictures, who are impossibile to get in a form of a scan.
You managed to raise it to a so high resolution, thats a evidence for a skiller vector waller.
Congratulations and good luck with your wallpapers in the future.
I really like this. Nice, clean and bright. I can feel the characters emotion going through this, like they are waiting for someone to come see them. I like how you made it bright too, like a refreshed screenshot of an anime. This is really cool and simple at the same time. Nice work.
No words. Simply the most beautiful wallpaper I've ever seen. (And from the best Anime-Film I've ever seen) +Fav. Please let me know if you do some others. (DO IT, PLEASE. xD)
Really awesome work.
This looks really. love the background.. its kinda blurry but i think its fine just the way it is.
the outline of the character's hair should be a lil bit darker than the main hair..
cool wallpaper though.. actually adding it as my fav.
It would be great if you painted the BG ^^ but still i love the scene you used but it's a little bit blur though, the BG fits the scan perfectly well ^^
Lovely background
The vector work is amazing O_o especially the clouds... Working it from screencaps must have been a real hard work. This is naturally a fav for me ^_^
Im glad to see that other byousoku 5cm walls are finally starting to be made! :) and a mighty nice one might I add. I do agree with some other comments tho, I would suggest not having the BG SO BLURRY but it still needs burr for depth perception. maybe half as much as you have right now?
Indeed, a very pleasant, lively wallpaper!!
Didn't see the movie yet, but the graphics (specially the landscapes) are stunning. And very good to wall. :3
I liked your wallpaper very much; the vectored character is great - and so does the landscape too, even blurried. The composition works, the color scheme is warm, lovely, and the chosen format (I mean, the ratio) is the ideal here.
I would, however, work text in a different way - maybe try another placement. By other side, I would use a clearer grey in the shadow of the white part of her shirt.
Anyway, it's indoubtly a good work, of course, so keep it up!

Back to the wall. Awesome. A definite favorite.
