After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!
Yeah its kinda wiered but she went to the same middle school as i did and hs. Never talked to her my whole life till the last week of my senior year. I asked her out to a party and things just kicked in from there we have been daiting for 5 months now.
Finally finished.

I started this vector a long time ago. Really, just after the scan was posted in the gallery. It was another one that I shoved on my external HD, and rediscovered when I was cleaning it off. With some urging from Cy, I decided to finish it. The whole concept was based off of the Greek goddess, Nyx. She is the goddess of the night, and is basically the opposite of Apollo (I love mythology). So I had the idea of Ringo bringing the night. I vectored her from the scan, and colored her in. The pattern on her obi is from some origami paper i scanned in, and the pattern on her kimono was made by me. Since it was just a manga scan, I had to do all the lighting from my head. Good thing I find that fun.
Anyways, I haven't read the manga of air gear, but I've been buying and watching the anime. It's cute, but nothing amazing. Also, too many boobs for my liking. I have no problem with ecchi when it's used in good taste or is funny (like So Long, r. Despair) but Air gear ecchi is pointless -_-
anyways, comments and critiques welcome.
Hopefully this redeems me from my last failure, annex!

Hmm...I always wondered if there was name for this kind of thing...I call it "character fade" just because I needed a name for it. Anyway you did a good job with it and she fits well in the image.

Nice clean vector. I really like how you got the pattern into the kimono(or whatever it is) that must have taken a while, but the best part of the whole wallpaper is the sky. It blends very well and I really like how you got the mythology idea going on into the wallpaper. In the end, another masterpiece by you. n_n Great Job. (+fave)
I, myself, love Oh! Great's artwork, but I absolutely hate the level of ecchi in both Ten Ten and Air Gear. Both are really great shows, but it seems that there's just a tad bit of an obsession with big-breasted women. I was rather surprised to find out that you were doing an Air Gear wall, but when I saw the scan that you were going to be vectoring, I knew it was going to be something amazing. I just didn't have an idea that it would be THIS magnificent.
I knew, simply from what you told me, that this wallpaper was going to blow away any other Air Gear wall that's ever been submitted..or rather blow away any other wallpaper in general, I just didn't realize to what extent. The vector looks so good (Nicely done rope too, btw =P). I'm no expert, but to me if it can look even better than the original scan, then it's darn good in my book. I think what I'm fond the most of is the work you did on the Kimono. Without a doubt, aside from the background, that probably my favorite part about this wallpaper. I think you really outdid yourself on that. Now, onto my second favorite part, the background. The way you have her shifting time is absolutely stunning. Not only does the night sky look great, but the sunset looks quite lovely as well. I also like how you added a pattern to the sunset as well. The city, the birds as well as the trees also give a nice feel for exactly how high in the air she is and also look quite nice as well.
I could ramble on and on about this wallpaper, but I think I've already done enough as is. This is probably one of the best walls I have ever had the pleasure of viewing in years. No joke either. This wall is going to be on my desktop for a good, long time. You really showed everyone just how amazing you are, Kalico =3. I < 3 this wall, so very, very much. It's a favorite for me.
the overabundant ecchi. ugh. *rolls eyes* don't get me started. i was asked by a friend a while ago to make some air gear walls from some manga scans that he liked. (this one was included, but i'll go cross it off my list now. kimono patterns make my head ache and it's impossible to outdo yours. xP) i thought the art wasn't bad and that maybe i'll read air gear, but i was warned of the excessive fanservice. although i got a warning and the plot was partially spoiled for me (because i was told parts of it to give me context and help me wall appropriately), i was stuck in making a bg so i started reading the manga... and damn was the purposeless ecchi annoying, what with simca's "reward" for ikki, ringo's replacement costume during the behemoth battle... -__-" i only read that far for the non-ecchi stuff...thinking about dropping it now.
now the relevant stuff. i like the thought put into this wall (the mythological reference), something different. personally, i find that there are too many stars and the black bird silhouettes are somewhat stark against the bright sunset, but that's no big deal. ah...those patterns are beautifully used. :3 i adore what you did for ringo's kimono, very pretty. just a little something i noticed about the vectoring though -- there are several places where the colors go over the outline into what should be another color. these spots should be pretty obvious if you are looking for them: along the border between the tan layer she is wearing underneath her blue kimono, along the yellow rope that ties her obi, her hair.
a +fav for me, for the gorgeous job you did of vectoring and coloring the manga scan. (i'm feeling the pain of vectoring manga scans. T__T but i brought that upon myself by agreeing to wall those. xD;)
Wow i really like this. it has a bit of everything. both the light of a fading sunset and the dark of a newborn night. the figure between them is an excellent way to make a smooth transition. the way the background is designed is very colorful and yet doesn't take away from the figure. i especially like the pattern in the night sky. the figure is also very appropriately chosen. really an excellent wall. favd.
but this is way better! when i first saw it i was like "ohhh that looks cool," and then i saw your name and i was very happy that you've already walled again! i love what you did with the lighting! for sure a fav! i just love oh! great's artwork, and i'm glad you choose one of his pieces with a kimono because he draws them so well. i also really like the vectoring job you did, nice and clean and not very trendwhorish.

What a beautiful wall. I love the colors. You did an excellent job with that, as well as your shadowing, which I must admit, I'm not too hot at when I have to improvise for myself.
Where did you find your paper patterns that you said you scanned in? They look similar to some Japanese papers I have from Paper Source. I Paper Source, and highly recommend them! Anyway, I love how you've integrated the different patterns into the wall.
There are just a couple of tiny color spots that go outside of their "outlines" so to speak. The rope for instance, but that's really all I have to critique about. I think it's a lovely wallpaper and worthy of a fav. Cheers!
The vector here is really amazing, the kimono looks immensely detailed and is definitely worthy of praise! Even more amazing is the accuracy of the shading and colouring when this is from a manga scan >_<!
I raelly love the perspective too, it's done really well.
The only problem I have with the wall is that the sky doesn't seem to blend well with the girl. Maybe it's the unusual colour of the sky, or the shadows around the robes. it doesn't feel like she's really flying in the air.
Nevertheless, I still love the wall!

The kimono! Omm Gosh, the pattern on the kimono, I love it. The background is awesome. Simple from the purple on the top corner and how it turn to yellow towards the bottom. I hate Air Gear ecchiness or else I would've use this wallpaper. >.<
