This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Hmmm 2nd wallie... I guess I have to do a Saber wallpaper eventually, being my most favourite character and all. Anyway I've always liked the scene (for those who've watched FSN hopefully they'd remember this part), so I thought maybe I should try to make a wallpaper out of it and here's the result. Vectoring Saber is probably the easier part, as you can see there isn't too much to vector anyway. But making the background is tough, prolly also because it's my first time in making a real background for a wallpaper (1st wallpaper doesn't really have a "real" bg).
Did the mountains for about 5 times, tried vectoring initially, but of course that failed miserably, and I ended up just painting it... It's not good I know, I suck at drawing stuff with hands >_<.
As for the clouds, I again tried making it myself, but that failed too hard so I had to use a brush for it. And then I coloured it from red to blue... Did some scaling, adjustments here and there. I hope they don't look too bad...
The last part is mostly blending the vector and all the background, which took several days of listening to various advices/comments. They are all credited below.
Hopefully the wall is alright... Comment and critiques (go as harsh as you can!) are welcomed.

Edit:
After much consideration, I've decided to add a black top/bottom to the 5:4 and 4:3 ratio resolutions. Initially the wallpaper is cropped on the side, with Saber shrinked so she didn't cover too much, but that didn't end up too well imo and Saber looks out of perspective...
This is probably the best FSN wallpaper out there. I love her melancholic eyes and the sky fits perfect! I think it's very good that you haven't used too much special effects and textures and filters and all this stuff... just a nice setting and Saber's pure innocent face... well done!
Thank you very much for this wonderful piece of work, depthchargex!
This is pretty! you vectored screenshot perfectly! it's amazing. i especially love how you did the background, even if it's from screenshot, cause i find it very hard vectoring backgrounds from screenshots. I must say this is amazing+fave

Nice adaptation from the screencap. for the wall. You did a wonderful job. I envy your skills. =P
By the way, it could be nice to put a textless version on your artist's comment. :)
Keep the nice work!
The clouds are well done and contrary to what you say I think you did a great job replicating the mountains in the background. When I watched the show and got to this part, even though I had already done the Fate route in the game, I still couldn't help but get all emotional, and you captured this scene excellently! +fav
Saber is sooo pretty~!! you don't even kno..lol well i guess you do since this wall was excelently done! It's a simple layout and design but it all works i really like it

Hmm, it's very well made for your second wallpaper! (Although I don't know what the total number of wallpaper youdid) But this one is very nice to look at, loved the background because of the colour used and the clearness of the work. And of course, Saber looks as elegant as ever
Keep up the good work!
Wowee~~ Your 2nd wallpaper I love the expression on Saber's face and the background that goes with it. Both combined together makes the wall so calm and peaceful. And that's a pretty beautiful vector you did of Saber too ^^ Glad to see you got rid of the glow around the clouds, and the mountains look much nicer too~
Nice vector ^^
Love this scene when Shiro has given Saber her last order, and said that she also loved Shiro. This wall really show the lady like side of Saber and the light effect + the sunset background blends perfectly with her. Good Job.
