This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
The art from the series is just so great I had to make another wall!
Interestingly enough the dimensions for a two page artwork is almost exactly the same proportions as a 1600 x1200 wall. Unfortunately, there wasnt a high quality scan of the piece i wanted and so had to make do with this.
This means I basically had to redo everything, while leaving some of the details, but I dont think that was too detrimental.
As for the piece it has a very forest like concept so I tried to keep it with foliage colours. I had 50 + layers before I even knew it, and not even close to starting the background. While I did look for some quality forest canopy images, I found the lighting and distinctive realness often clashed with anime style art and colouring.
In the end I settled for a more stylistic bg with the impression of a forest canopy, with some subtle light rays falling across the foreground. This reinforced the concept, while complementing the characters.
It would be nice to know what you think. Even if its just to say you like it, and of course even if its about the things you dont. :)
It's amazing how you redid that manga spread, especially so stylishly and alive (love the shading and the gradients)
And I think you came with a brilliant idea for the bg, I absolutely adore it. The whole concept is great and things come together really nicely.

Wow nice wallpaper! Never really watched or read air gear, but this looks awesome imo. Background and colors match very well with the plant theme. Good job and keep up the good work, hope to see some more work from you soon!
The first thing that jumped out to me were the colors. They are simply amazing. Redoing everything looks like it took a ton of time and effort and not to mention skill and so I appreciate this wallpaper all that much more. It really is beatuiful, Ringo looks amazing. Simply fantastic work and thanks for sharing.

I love it! The idea of placing her 'Queen' form and the forest is absolutely terrific! + the roses look awesome! you could try to vector it though. It would look beyond amazing! And the colour plaet is just great, the colours jump to the viewer and they blend perfectly.

Wow i love the concept. the colors are nice and the figures are well chosen and well placed. the background design is very interesting. it really helps add energy to the wall as a whole. really good overall.
Agreed. Air Gear is an awesome manga to read. Though I think that this wallpaper might need some more improvements. The reconstruction of the whole picture isn't that good. Jagged lines are visible. Though the overall concept of the Thorn King, or Queen, is very nicely portrayed. The canopy and the light is absolute love. If you do more practice on vector, I'm sure you'll do well. :)
I like this picture as well. Where can I get this picture at a higher resolution?
This is a great wall. I really like the colours you've chosen for the scan, they all really blend well together. Also, lovely colours on the Thorn Queen!
Oh wow. Beautiful work. The colors go awesomely well with each other and the design of the scene is great. It really gives off a nice earthy vibe. Excellent work!
