Indeed, this would make a nice simple wallpaper, but the background to the left of the girl seems very cloned (especially the bottom). It also looks to be noisy, so you'll need to find a way to make it look more painted and with more variation in strokes. Hope to see this fixed and submitted!
Slightly lighten the door, make it look like the light is shining off of it, but keep the same feel. there are a couple spots on your character that don't blend in as much as they should. add a sig, and then it's good.
