The amount of patience, hard work and an eye for quality is what defines this wallpaper. Character is painstakingly vectored off a real life toy image with references to screenshots. Despite the difficulty level, ~pvc24 still manages to nicely depict the image in anime fashion and yet able to find the mental strength to come up with a background composition that is both aptly fun and pleasant in atmosphere.
Well, I must say that this wallpaper took a lot of work! And I also must say that it will probably for nothing! Seeing as Chance Pop Session is quite unknown...^^; I keep submitting things for the category--scans, this wallpaper, this vector. It needs some love. So yeah, this is Akari from Chance Pop (or Triangle) Session. It's a very good anime so I suggest you watch it! Now then, this is only my THIRD vector so please be nice. I'm amazed that it's so much better than my first two though! I submitted it here as stand-alone, too.
It was quite hard for me to do...I'd go into the details, but I already did for the description of it as a scan...and I'd rather not mention it all again here! Plus, it took a long time to describe. I'll sum it up here quickly though: it took over 10 hours, 100 shape layers, 10 normal layers (outlines), she's an amputee, I hated doing her hair and dress, and, again, it was hard for me. Yes, that's just for the vector of Akari.
As for the wallpaper itself...the background and all, I had this idea to have her on the clouds and holding stardust! I don't know why, but that's just how I imagined her being. So I used brushwork, gradients, a circle for the moon...added glows. I had fun with the little stars and glowing things all around! I think it kind of looks like she's holding stardust now, right? I hope so. I'm also really hoping that she looks ok...and that this overall wallpaper looks ok, too!! It took a lot of time and work, and I just don't want this to go completely unnoticed. It may suck, and it isn't my usual texture-y wallpapers...but it's still fine, right? I keep getting told that my wallpapers need variation and that they're all really similar! I have a feeling this one is, too...sorry.
Thanks for taking the time to look and read this (if you did). Please enjoy!!
P.S. This time, instead of just changing the image size from 1600x1200 to 1280x1024 and ending up with skewed proportions, I actually cropped it to fit the size...so some is cut of (SOME) in the 1280x1024, but it looks clearer and non-distorted this time!
[EDIT after 17hrs12min: I hope it isn't too much, but I added more "star dust." I added more sparkly stars in the sky and around Akari. I felt this needed more detail; it was too plain before. I also had to change my signature a bit, and I also tried to contrast her wings more...so you can see the details a bit more. ^^; Tried to blend her in better, too...*probably wasn't successful*]
OMG the vectoring is AMAZING you did a wonderful job, everything is flowing and clean the edges are perfect, and her wings glow beautifully, I like the night sky and the sweet simplicity, the colors aren't to loud, it's detailed nicely all down to the text it's lovely. A+ and a fav great job I new it would be great.
A pretty wall, a bit bright in some areas, but the vector is nicely done. Nice use of the script font as well, regardless of whether people say there is no variations in your walls, if its what you like to do, keep doing it! Anyway great work~
Oh well, I also commented on it on TheO but I had to comment here too, it's just too pretty to ignore! I don't agree with whoever said your wallpapers are repetitive, your walls are unique and I think you've discovered your own style ^_^ I do like the starry effects, they fit the girl!
I don't mind her wings, I think they look better a little "edgy" than round, it makes the character look in motion :3 O_O And I totally respect you for drawing those legs so well! One small tip: erase the tip of the outlines a bit so they won't be that round (it creates a nice effect, like fading).
Keep up the great work! Your vectors turn a lot better than you think, believe me ;) Thank you for letting me use the vector *hugs* Take care!
Really beautiful! you made your third vector and it's really nice! but I would like it more if I could see the details on her wings... still I like how you made her legs really well ^^ I can see some little mistakes but it doesn't matter, this is my favorite of all your works great job!

Oh my, you finished the vector and made a wallpaper so quickly! I'm surprised!
It's so pleasant and pretty.
The vector is very well done, very accurate and skilled. Really!! I wish I could vectoring like you! And thinking that's only your third one... Amazing... I specially like her wings. A suggestion? Maybe making all the outlines in different colours (like you made in the wings) could bring a even better result, more delicate and able to blend better in a wallpaper.
That's always so great to realise about a "before" and "after" - I mean, how to turn a problematic scan in a beautiful wallpapper.
The background suits her very well. Simple, yet effective - the girl need an "angelic" scene, where she could be the "queen"...
Clouds (specially at the bottom zone) and moon - loved them. The aesthetics of the text - is really nice, it easily caught my attention - hmm, I give extreme importance to a correct, pleasant text beauty and blending in a wallpaper... ;) I liked the color scheme as well.
However, I think the use of the star brushes (and some of the clouds) could be better (more detailed stars? More well distributed?). And I think the girl has too many shinning points over her (more than in the background)... But that's all. The global view is totally pleasant at my eyes.
Some deviation now...
If a work obtains wide visibility, it certainly means it's good - at least, for a wide range of tastes/opinions.
Personal satisfaction. And it shall attends, at least partially, to the "acception" a work gets from the "public" - that's what being an artist means...
So, I understand your "worryings" pretty well, I felt - and feel! - the same way.
One have to grow and take our time in doing so, if one really thinks achieving something (really) matters, that's the point. So annoying, we all already know it... :S
However, we must to give our best to ourselves, in the first place. And that is what will make us more satisfied. And I felt you are happy with this result, that's great. And also, there will always be people who admire your work, what justifies the effort spent on it... :)
Waiting for a big acception it's not the healtiest way of dealing with this, I'd say, in spite of thinking in a very close way...
Anyway, why didn't this wallpaper achieve a big amount of popularity...?
Hmmm, let's see if I can help in this... Quite unknown character and mainly, not top original/outstanding composition, I guess. -__-"
I ask myself this (about mine walls) often, as well...
Really a great job.
I sense potential in you. I do want to see more! And more vectors, as well.
I'm sure you can make top-works!

Seeing this type of wallpaper from you is really refreshing! I was surprised to find out that this wallpaper was from you. It's really clean 8D!! I also really like clean wallies hehehe... I think it's good that your making wallpapers in other styles, but make sure you don't do it because someone tells you to. Anywho, I think she looks really nice in that dark blue BG. The thing with starry skies is that there should be no blocks of solid blue (I think...), otherwise it looks kind of empty. I also think that there is too much of a mixture of clouds at the bottom. The really light and flowy ones don't really look good with the thick fluffy ones because they normally aren't together. Anyway, haha, it doesn't really fit, but I've put this up as my desktop. I don't really like this character, but this still gets a fave from me!
