Walling the unknown and the invisible (coincidentally, this guy's a ghost). although yazawa did make references to adam (the guy in this wall) in the considerably more popular nana.
this was a very fast vector, actually, because i was so motivated back when i did it. a lot of minor tweaking has gone into it. i don't remember how many times i tried to make the eye better and to fix the flow of his hair strands. the bg is comparatively simple -- abstract vectoring with a paint-over. the text was the biggest stumper. i have a feeling this wall will get a very quiet reception.
origin of the title (final chapter):
What was there waiting for me
was a sleepless white night where the sun never rises
and where sleep is forgotten.
Controlled by the gravity of the moon,
everything was predetermined in that phase.
Beautiful vector! The shading is excellent, the eyes are vivid, and the background provides great contrast. I really don't have any complaints about this wall, great job!
I never knew that this was one of Ai Yazawa's artwork until you actually mentioned it. I love her artwork. < 3 As i've mentioned earlier, your vectors are really beautiful and i have no complaints about the wall. So just a +fav for me. ;D
The quality of the scan and the fact that you say you did this quickly really demonstrates your skills. The hair flows very nicely and blends well together, which is not easily accomplished. The eye is astonishing, the detail and the bright color, well I'm a sucker for deep blue eyes but anyway. The only complaint that I have to make is that the background as you put it is to simple and easily done, the text doesn't fit in here all that well either. The mouth looks fine but just seems awkward, same color tone as the skin?
Wow. The detail in the hair is gorgeous, and I love the depth in the eye. I also love the color/detail contrast between the foreground and the background. The watercolor texture is also a nice effect. Great work, like always. =)
Facial-focused wall are very, very hard to compose correctly. And it's even harder with vectors, since vectoring inherently deletes a lot of the details. So with close-up facial profile walls, it's a challenge to present something that's eye catching and design-oriented, as it's pretty much impossible to do a proper scenic wall in this way.
That aside, I think you did a very decent job meeting those challenges. Your vector style (especially how you vector hair) does add some vibrancy to the vector, and the texture is well managed. The tear running down his cheek is especially nice, so props to that as well :D Overall though, I can't help but feel that you ran a bit low on inspiration and creativity towards the end =X
Well you can't fail when it comes to vectors. It's as smooth as any other of your works ♥
I don't know how you managed to do it but the balance is nice and most walls with big faces have no balance at all ._.
..........i missed it, i missed it again T_T
This is gorgeous...the character is way too cute for me. I am always fond of dark haired boys but i always...come to like blond guys XD
Your vectoring is purely perfect as always. I don't remember not even once not to like your vectoring. You got an unusual style and that is what i like the most.
