AP Featured Wallpaper!
Get loco, get Creative, be original, stand out, live life to the fullest, do things you regret, do things youre scared off, and enjoy life!
Maybe not the best way to start the 'why highlighted description' but this wallpaper is something different but is something that imo has never been seen before on AP. Simplicity and the guts to be different, but being different in the perfect way. Simplicity trough leaving objects away and sticking to the core!
And somehow reminds me also of the beloved companion cube from portal :P
EDIT: 4/21/08
I realized this morning I used the wrong blending mode on the knob shadows (soft light instead of hard light) when I was converting the file. It's fixed now.

An entry to Simple-ism'sminimalism project.
I originally drew this katamari for work. A team wanted to incorporate a katamari in their internal logo, and one of the graphic designers, knowing I liked Katamari (as evidenced by my previous Katamari walls on my work desktop) tapped me to create it for them. Hence the usage of Google primary colors, the blobby highlights and bold outlines. It reminded me of another illustration I did that involved bowling for Lava Lamps. Except that bowling with a katamari would result in some... interesting outcomes. I thought it was an amusing idea so I took the katamari and added some bowling pins to them to create this.<
"This is how we bowl" is a phonetic pun on "this is how we roll" -- and this is certainly bowling, Katamari style.
Inspiration for the wallpaper comes from the clean and minimalistic Google style. And all the amazingly awesome Google icons my coworkers create.
Sweeet.
I think you succeeded in making this a simple wall. I'm glad you explained the color choice, because at first I was wondering why you chose those. They looked good no matter what though. You may think that the spin-off of your tagline was lame, but I thought it was pretty funny (...then again I find a lot of things funny).
Anyway, I think it's a great, simple wall. "Less is more"
Very cool I took one look and liked it, extremely high quality, great resolution, bright colors, and I gotta love simplicity it's not over barring and I LOVE Katamari I have both of the games and there really aren't enough walls from it. Great job as always I love your art style. A+ and a fav
Certainly nice work on the creativeness here! And me being a bowler myself adds to my likeness of this wall!
Im just not sure if this was Highlight-worthy but congratulations nonetheless.
It's good to see a wall that's not scenic featured. that doesn't happen often, but this certainly deserves it. few are brave enough to break away from the norm, and less are talented enough to make it outstanding, you achieved both.
There are no words to describe this that I can think off, I'd deem it the perfect wallpaper for my desktop. Heck I'd like to make a poster of it and put it a frame~

Ahhhh Google. I've always heard amazing things about working for that company.
Anyways, loving the wall. I'm one of those people who makes stupid jokes based on words sounding alike. usually, I'm the only one who laughs. It's a sad day for comedy.
Anywhoo, Love the colors. I'm a fan of simple 5 colored stuff using just those bolds.
Nothing really negative to say. Just loving it.
Simplicity requires extreamly-high quality and this wall certainly meets the standard...Nice concept and great colors,I have been in love with abstract walls recently
I saw this at Minitokyo ^_^ As I said, I love the colors and how they stand out against the white background. I can't think of the right words to write about so I suppose I'd settle for creative, unique, and intelligent =D
Wow that's so cute. XD
I love the idea.. although your katamari wouldn't come back with the ball return because the pins are stuck on it! Heheh. Very simple, but effective. Maybe would have preferred to see the little Prince or another character behind the Katamari, rolling it, but it's cute nonetheless.
Very clean and minimalistic, indeed. Will look good on my mac. ;)
Not the most amazing thing I've ever seen, so maybe the feature is pushing it a little bit, but whatever you deserve credit for making a cool wall. :)

Why HEH-LOH there!
Oh.. Did i mention that I CLAIMED HARUHI?? hahaha ^_^
Step right up and claim your girl!
because you used the term "phonetic pun" to describe it.
it's really refreshing from your usual color schemes of brown.
i don't necessarily agree that it's something "omg never been done before on AP!"
but oh well congrats none the less.
Have a nice day!
If religion is that which binds men to one another, and irreligion that which sunders, then must I testify that I found the religion of my country in its musical genius and its irreligion in its churches and drawing rooms.

The colors and simplicity of it makes it unique.
congrats on the feature, you deserve it!
