This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Chise of Saikano...which i have not yet seen/read and really want to. I saw this scan and thought it was lovely...but i wanted more wings and more rain! I know Chise has mechanical wings, but I don't really care. :neko: the only problem is that this all started on the laptop at my apt -- more than 4 years old, very slow, no tablet...lots of crashing and no way to transfer to my haus at the office. So! all the wings and detailing were created by me via mouse over several days. i originally wanted to play up the blood on her clothing, but decided instead to extend it into the entire atmosphere of the wall with gradients and tinting. i think it worked out ok. :neko:
Comments, gripes, grapes, groans and moans all appreciated and rewarded with sprinkles and shinies. :neko: I hope you like it! :neko:
God wallpaper that color fits really well and gives the idea of a kind of bloddy movie scene, and you really have chosen a great image thanks for sharing that wallpaper.
Wow.. ^ the background colour does gives the idea of a kind of bloody movie scene.. the wings.. (i suppose) looks scary.. i suppose the white lines are the rain.. i like this wall.. XD
This is beautiful work. I've found a new desktop ^_^.
Some critiques:
- The focus point is a little hard to see, but it is there. The girl is clearer than the slightly blurred background, which is good, but the focus point should always be well-defined and easy to spot at first glance.
Some Good Points:
- The simplicity mixed with detail is perfect - the plain background, which usually would be a falling point, actually works almost naturally well with the image you chose =).
- The wings, though you say they are supposed to be mechanical, are perfect in my opinion. They add an air of abstract thought to the clearer, more focused picture of the character.
- Your color choice matches nicely to the melancholy tone of the wall.
- Love the rain! It's not the typical lines but has some sparkle and depth to it that shows you put some effort into it =).
All in all, keep up the great work!
I can't wait to see more ^_^.
This is a fantastic wallpaper, I can tell you really worked hard on it. I really like how you did the girl's wings, and the look and feel of the rain falling (especially where it hits the girl or her wings) is utterly fantastic. Great job, I'm adding this one to my favorites.
Wow.. it's beautiful.. I love the scene and the effects. Rain and blood are a pretty good combination. It's melancholy. I really like the wings. They're very well put. A thing that I would suggest though, is that the tint of the blood be a lighter shade. In the rain, it dampens, giving it a lighter color. even though it looks have been there for a while. She's unprotected from the weather anyway. That's it. Nice work! +fav
Oh man - WHAT A WALL YOU`VE GOT THERE!
the scan kicks ass (the wings are more like magical fire-but it looks great and they fascinate me ^^)
the backround is very pretty-I love the whole rain effect :D

Aweful wall! :neko:
Great job :inu:
I  it!
Good detail, great color, and the rain effect was a nice touch.
Though I think I would have preferred some dark super-blurrey shapes in the background, to give the wall more depth, but it's nice work :).
