This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Heyo~ It's been a while since I've last posted... I've been submersing myself into the world of vectoring (with a side job of being a student) but finally... a product of my small hiatus.
I took the original image of Belldandy from a b/w manga scan [HERE] used the silk from [HERE] as a reference for the silk of night and day that you see covering her wings.
The concept didn't really come to me until the very end, I was originally just playing with coloring and styling black and white images and then I figured I might as well turn the whole thing into a wall.
The birds are revectored as well from the birds in [THIS IMAGE]... and I decided to make them split white and yellow in some parts to show the transition of non-heaven to heaven... the yellow birds representing stars in the heavens.
Anyway, I'll be honest, I like this version of the wall better than the one I'm submitting... but I wanted to go with the more concept related wall for my main feature... but here's my favorite version anyway!
maybe at some point I'll make a night version of this wall as well... we shall see.
I've still got a lot to learn in terms of vectoring... but for now, enjoy~
Wow!
hehe first comment! i was waiting for your wallie!

I've been waiting for your next wall for a long time now, and this is perfect in every single way. To take a black and white image and turn it into such a colorful and beautiful vector... I think you are incredibly skilled. I agree that your day version is best, but I see why you would post the night and day version instead. The silk matches well with the idea of her power over air, and the detail reflects that power in every single way. Even the birds, serving as the stars and the light are awesome. Great work. I'm more than impressed.
Would like to add that I too like the version from imageshack better. ><
This is absolutely beautiful, truly a master piece, the vectoring is wonderful everything flows the contrast between light and dark colors is fantastic, it looks like a painting, if you blew this up you could hang it on a wall and it would look stupendous. Over all everything is just lovely, you will master vectoring in no time. A+ and a fav
It is really oh my goddess! Beautiful work, the color and everything is nice, um..i am not very good with expressing why i like it so that's it.
hm, forgot which part is this, must re-read
Beautiful coloration from the original scan! The colors are just gorgeous. Your style reminds me of `anolibb's work, though I think I prefer the way you vector the skin tones xD.
I like the other version you posted more, the beige color stands out well against the blue.
Very good wallpaper
It gives you the angelic feeling that the anime character portrays. The birds gives the wallpaper the feeling of flying down from the heavens as an angel, and the feathers brushing off of the birds adds to that too. Even if a person has not watched OMgoddess, they can probably understand the character well. Very A+ work.
As mentioned by Tsu, your vector style reminds me of Anolibbs work too. There's a lot of detailed work in your vector, and it turned out really nicely. The only thing i wanna comment on is the birds on the left side of your wall. The colors are too pale, and it makes the birds barely visible. I think it'd be nicer if the colors were more slightly darker. But apart from that, it's a very good wall. So good job and keep it up. ;D
Wow, this is one gorgeous wallpaper! So much detail and color tones, I can barely stop looking at it! In fact, I'm going to have this as a wallpaper just to look at it more In my opinion, you're already great at vectoring so there's not much you can still learn; maybe some tricks here and there, but you've definitely risen from the rest of the vector artists!
Good luck on your future projects! I'll be looking forward to seeing more beautiful creations like this one! :)
WOW!
The whole concept is amazing!
The colours, the vectoring! OMG!
This is beautiful. Thought I haven't watched the anime I know a will now.
Keep it up!
