As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!
My best wallpaper yippeee
i used many diffrent brushes to make this look wonderful. my first walllpaper to submit here,
png from aoi-eomesai from daisuki.com.br which i saw when i was searching the internet hehehe
i used my own style to make the png combine with the bg
i used grass brushes and moons
It's a good start but not ready to be submitted yet. There's a couple of issues that I can see that definitely need work.
The first is how the character fits in with the background. At the moment it feels a lot like you've just plonked the PNG on top of the background so she doesn't feel like she blends. It's a little like she's just floating there. So my first bit of advice would be to be to put a shadow under the bottom of her legs and dress. Make sure it's in the direction of the rest of the shadows, so the light source looks like it's coming from the top left on the character so follow that. I would say maybe go for a shadow with soft edges and maybe put it on multiply (as a layer blend) so you can see all the detail on the floor through it still.
The second thing that bugs me is the grass. It looks ok but it just doesn't have any depth, the blades of grass just don't seem to get smaller the further back or closer to the mountains in the background. It just makes the wallpaper look a bit odd. You might be able to fix this by two methods. The first is to make the blades of grass a lot smaller the closer they get to the edge of the mountains in the background. The second is to move the mountains a bit higher up in towards the moons. That might help, but you still may need to add the smaller blades of grass in. Maybe adding some grass into the foreground too might help add that little bit more depth.
Those are the only two things I can see at the moment so make those changes and the wall should look a lot better with a lot more depth and less like the character if floating!
It's a very nice wallpaper, but it can be even better with a little effort.
Cessa said the most and I also agree with her. The biggest obstacle is sure the grass.
Too less of it and too flat. Easy to fix.
Good luck with it.
I think it is a good wallpaper. I can't put a finger on it but I think there is something more to be done. In my opinion it either lacks color or too much of it - especially green.
The leg part would look better if the grass will come out like it's sprouting from the ground - don't know how to say it but I hope you understand what I say. Because from the looks of it she is on top of a water because below the leg part has a smooth blur effect.
I think brown color would fit as the background color. A shade of brown used in maps would be great - I think. Great job though! Keep up the good work.
Well I like the colors,I mean the nuances of green you used for this wall,it looks pretty good so far but I think her size is just too much she looks sort of gigantic,I mean yeah I know the idea when with the mountains being far away but I am talking about the closer places too, maybe she could use some grass around her and yeah I think she should be smaller.Basically that is everything I can say that bothers me,except that I leave real critics in charge,I just talk about what I feel that doesn't match, from my point of view! And the texture should match more with her,I mean she seems to have a bit different texture from the rest.
Well anyway you got a fav from me,because I can't only critic, plus the wall is really nice except those few things I said earlier.
Really good wallpaper so far, I like the Asian style used in the background you made
for suggestions... like I said, I like the style you used with the grass, but you might try some more variations on the positions of the blades and such to see if anything comes of the trying. Also, image quality is a little of an issue; I can definitely see some artifacting that looks like it came from a jpg saved @~a lower quality percentage (it's not a really big issue, but you'll probably suffer a little in the reviews with the scan's image quality at it's current level)
I read all post, i agree with all, if you make a little changes like the perspective of grass, the shadows down legs and the other changes i think it will be a great great wall.
