This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
This was a hard scan for me to clean up, extracting it was simple enough but having to remove the text and those boxes and what not was not as easy as it first looked.
I went with the original theme of clouds from the scan as I felt it suited it best. I did try out a space scene a few times but I just couldn't get it to work right. All in all it took me about a week, on and off, to finish this. Enjoy~
Very great work on the scan, I love the resolution the best tho it's huge and just draws you in, I love the soft glow of the colors and everything mixes and flows like a dream. Great work
Amazing amazing job on cleaning up the scan!! *claps* i could probably never do it that good ahah(: *thumbs up* and i love the idea of the cloud theme, it's very gorgeous how you replaced it with cleaner clouds. despite that being said, i think you should have made the clouds a darker hue or tone or whatever to match the picture more because for me, it sort of clashes with the scene--like the scene is all action-ish and yet the background is too dreamlike for a realistic touch. i hope i'm making sense here XD well overall, i think you did a fantastic job (esp with the grueling cleaning up of the scan you had to do) keep up the awesome work(:
*Jumps with joy* Yay Macross Frontier! Finally someone made a wall out of that scan. I've been waiting for someone to make one for so long. Even thought of making one myself, but then i got lazy. =O So im glad you made it. It looks great, and good job on removing all those text and stuff. The only thing that you may wanna fix is Alto's hair. The ends of his hair is kinda sharp and contrasting to the soft puffy clouds. So you may wanna soften it down, by adding a slight soft layer of cloud/fog over it to make it look softer. Everything else looks great though. Good job, and keep it up. ;D
A very good work cleaning up the scan.
After adding the texture over the scan i almost thought it was vectored~
Dreamy and it give a beauty and the beast feels although it's kinda opposite in 'hime' and ranka's situation =x
WOW!!I love your work on cleanin up the scan i believe it was such a hard work cuz the scan itself is full of texts and colors :\ Awesum work i like it! :D

I agree that this wallpaper is well done. I like the overall theme, colors and the dreamy and soft atmosphere - and this is even without me having to watch macross frontier.
What I think might have been improved - is the shadow drawn on the clouds. It should be less regular and probably changing opacity depending on whether the cloud it shoud be seen "on" is nearer to the source (in this case the ship) or further back. In the former case you'd draw it most likely as dark as you did. In the latter case however you'd soften it and make it more transparent.
This is the only flaw I see in this wallpaper. Thank you for sharing - and in a super high resolution which would satisfy even the 30" LCD my elder brother has at home ^^;
All though I am not a fan of this series this wallpaper is
to beautiful to ignore. I love the feeling it gives off.
Great colors and cleaning of the scan.
It's a great wall.
The first thing I noticed when I first saw this wallpaper was the angle that the scene seemed to be shot from. I really like the perspective, and I applaud you for pulling that off, because I've always found that it's a difficult task ~ Of course, a good scan always helps, but I feel that an artist's execution is also key.
It was a good extraction, and you did a great job cleaning the scan and filling in the missing spaces where there had been text and boxes. The lighting is good - the highlights and shaded areas - and it really gives it that feel of being in the clouds directly underneath the sun, which the texture also contributed to, I think.
The clouds look fantastic, and I'm honestly glad that you went with the clouds rather than a space theme, because I agree that the theme that you did decide on suits the scan very well. A lot of people might say that this is one of those walls that looks too much like the original scan, but I frankly enjoy pieces like these, because they're clean, simple, and crisp.
