After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!
Wow. This took quite some time! This is my first time vectoring from a black and white manga scan. I rarely vector, and this was my most different! It was quite a challenge, but at the same time...I actually had fun. :3 Yah, I said it. I had "fun." That's odd for me these days...since I usually dislike the wallpapers and vectors I work on. Well, I like this one. I hope that more people do, too. Now then, here's the nitty-gritty.
I used my scan...I thought this one of Ritsuka was so adorable!! I find it funny that people that aren't familiar with Loveless find it hard to believe that he is a, well, "he." My brother and another friend of mine were like, "You mean 'she,' right? It's a girl, isn't it?" Hah, no. Anyhoo...scan:
Then I continued to vector! This was definitely one that I worked the hardest on. I spent a lot of time on the outlines because I made them really thick at first...and then erased them away. I don't usually do that. I wanted to make my vector different from the original so I changed some things. I got rid of the clover in his mouth, made the clover in his hair yellow so it's more like a flower, and I gave him butterfly wings. THAT was definitely the hardest part. -__- Wretched butterfly wings! I didn't know how to make them look right...I tried so many different versions...different shapes and colors. Then I ended up making them with the freeform pen tool using my tablet. They still haunt me...and that's kind of why I have the layout as I do now...
As you can see, it's a close-up of him. I like focusing on faces, I can't help it! I had the full vector of him in there in the field, but it was annoying me...looked too small, and I didn't want to look at the wings. So here's my other version if you wanna see/download:
The vector had over 100 layers, but I think that's just because I don't know how to combine shape layers like I should. :/ It took about a week of working on and off...so probably well over 10 hours. ^^; Then a couple more hours for the wallpaper. My first fully vectored wallpaper, too! I usually use brushwork for the background, but I didn't this time. Oh, and I found those butterflies for the background here. What else to say other than this is one of my brightest and different wallpapers yet. I wanted it to be very summery. Warm colors everywhere. I kind of feel stupid that I did all that work on the full vector, and then I didn't even show it all off. XD I guess that's why I'll submit it as standalone later! Well, I hope you like this! Thanks for looking--comments are greatly appreciated.
Waaaa, first comment! Your latest wall is gorgeous. Awesome vectoring and creativity from that black/white scan! I absolutely LOVE the colors, they're so vibrant... and blend nicely with everything. The wings you added to him back really give the wall a great effect. It's so happy and warm, great job!
I haven't commented on a wall for a while but when I saw this I just had to. Ritsuka is so cut and I love the bright colours, perfect for summer. I really don't see why people think he is a girl but that's just me. I love it! +fav
I think your vectoring is really good but some more work could be put in the edges and lines :]
Otherwise, I like the color choices and the wall is very cute. Good work~~
Ritsuka is so cute... This wall is very colorful. I wish you would have used his whole body and made the wall more scenic, but that's just me. Great vector work, too. :'D
Also, if you wanna combine your shapes of the same color, and you don't wanna get things to cluttered, you can press the "+" button before starting again and it'll be added onto that same layer shape, without automatically making a new layer. hope that helps for future vectoring. ;)
This wall is perfect, you do such awesome work you really don't give yourself enough credit, the vectoring is top quality, the colors are bright and glowing like a rainbow and the wings are transparent which is just lovely, the butterfly's make the background that much more beautiful. I just love your style. A+ and a fav
Wow, that's really amazing that you put all the pretty coloring into there! *impressed* i love mostly everything about it. except for the hair--i feel like it's missing a shine or something and doesn't look authentic enough. and i must admit it's extremely difficult to make hair vectors look good. and also, the wings are a bit bright on the eyes for me. but i suppose i can see the look you're going for--colorful, bright, and summery? all in all, it's a happy wall and i like it(: keep up the good work ^_^d
Great job making that from a black-white manga scan. It costed some time as I see, 10 hours can be pretty long, when you are lazy (as me). I myself like more the scenic version as the close up, but thats just my opinion.

*is having a jealousy attack* I know I commented on it on TheO but I couldn't not show my support here as well! This wallpaper is so well done and deserves all the love I can give it! I want to vector as awesome as you! *goes to cry in emo corner*
Um, back to the wallpaper itself lol. I love every bit of it and I'm glad you also put up the full version, though I like them both and can't decide which to have on my desktop! And I see you used shapes now (forgot to mention this in TheO), I suppose it was easier to do than with Stroke Path. And yeah, those wings are CRAZY! You sure had a lot of patience in making them but I'm glad you did, they're so sparkly and cute!
You get extra points for the awesome color combination, it gives off such a summery feeling! Truly a good idea to start the summer with! +fave from me, 'tis always difficult to vector a manga scan and you pulled it off marvelously! Keep up the great work, ok? I'll be stalking looking forward to your new works! :)

Zakuro-chan... I'm proud of you.
I mean, you have shown us great vectors, but this time, the original image was B&W... And it turned out SO well - the accurate lines, the colouring. Awesome! The wings you added yourself are pretty cool as well.
The colorscheme of the entire composition is really attarctive, lively, good.
Now, the other side of the coin.
First, I think some butterflies actually fit, but the BG looks busy and confusing.
The previous statements could refer to both versions you uploaded. But let's separate them: I totally think you should submit your version with the entire vector as a new wallpaper. Because it's a waste, IMO, to use only a part of the vector. Also, that way, the wallpaper breathes more properly. More pleasant, more "scenic" (if you know what I mean), more interesting - I like the secondary version much more, actually.
See? When I talked about "diversity" I meant something like this. Heh.
EDIT: I will alter 1 f the "suggestions" - rather uploading the 2nd version as the main, and the current main one, as an alternative.
*o* YAY for a Ritsuka wallie!! He looks so cute~ x3
Really amazing vectoring! *nodnod* Especially considering it's from a black/white scan.
The wings are beautiful, and I love the butterflies~

a black and white manga scan turns into a wonderful art
Ritsuka looks like a girl here because of his facial expression, he's so cute!
here it goes, first the colors you used is brilliant, it makes the entire wallpaper full of life, your able to show the "fun" you felt when making it
second those outlines are really nice, the clover usually it's color is green but you make it yellow that looks like a flower here, nice idea!
third those shapes you used are cool! then you put him a butterfly wings, really amazing!
and final how you vector this loveless wallpaper is really gorgeous! i like it very much n_n
Good Job to you!

Don't try to be perfect. Just pretend you do.
And there is a second version, a big plus!!
Keep up the good work!
