This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Oh my, colours! Been wanting to make the simple kind of wall for a long time now...I was aiming for a simple mod background, so when I was half playing and experimenting on colour gradients and blending options I accidentally made a background that I really liked. Then I decided to throw in Bamboo Blade characters in the wall because I've always wanted to make a wall for Bamboo Blade. I thought the series was awesome and it certainly deserves more lurve! ><
Vectored the silhouettes(yes, silhouettes yet again) of the characters from the manga covers that can be found here . I was sorely tempted to use the full images instead of silhouettes because of the pretty art..but it really didn't go very well with the bg. Since Bamboo Blade has spunk in it, I decided to add colour circles to make it more lively and funky.

Some different versions that I made~
Lighter/softer version (not much difference actually):
Really cute wall. I enjoyed looking at your other versions, the night version is really retro! Nice work on the vectoring of the silhouettes. The colors are awesome and the whole colorful background/silhouette kinda theme brings good memories of my favorite itunes/coldplay commercial! hehe, nice work!
Silhoettes really was the best choice, the full image would not have gone well with the wonderful background you made ^^ It's nice to see such a fitting wallpaper for the Bamboo Blade girls, it really works well with all of their personalities (especially with keeping Tama-chan in front of the subdued blue panel). Great work.
Sweet! You're right, Bamboo Blade definitely needs more attention, and this wall has certainly grabbed mine! The background could have used some more tweaking, perhaps making those abstract shapes more meaningful. About the color scheme; it's good, though the green is contrasting too much! Anyway, I love the feel and overall design of the wallpaper - simply great! ;D
I like the use of different colors against the simple gradient on the background and the blacked out people. The colors make the people standout while not being to over the top because of the gradient on your background.

I used some random brushes found at deviantART.
