This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Time: 3 days Layers: 50 (after the mass merging of the individual vector layers, 120 before that...). Hardest Part: Mentally planning out the outfits for the girls. Movie of Inspiration: A Tale of Two Sisters.
I chose the movie A Tale of Two Sisters for the contest when I found this scan. Since there wasn't any particular scene that I thought I could wall, I went instead with mimicking the official movie poster.
I wanted to capture the old vintage feel that the poster and entire movie has, so when I vectored the girls I changed their outfits to match the style of the movie. I vectored them right down to the shading on their dresses and added a vintage dress texture over each of their outfits to deepen the effect. The background wallpaper was a combination of two textures that came from deviantart, which I over-layed to get get one more similar to that in the movie. The sofa is actually a stock photo that I filtered and touched up with paint in photoshop to help it match the setting. While it would have been more accurate to center the girls & sofa in the wallpaper, I wanted to keep it aesthetically pleasing as a wallpaper, and it looked kind of off in the center.
About the Movie & Game that I chose:
The movie A Tale of Two Sisters is a Korean film that is a combination ghost story/psychological thriller about two sisters that return home to their father and stepmother after a stay in a mental facility. Upon returning their stepmother is cruel and ghostly happenings take place after dark.
The game I used to represent the movie is Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly. This game focuses on twin sisters who are lost in a haunted village, and they seemed to fit the best for the Korean Film that I chose(let's face it, they're pretty but kinda creepy at the same time <_<).

Wow! A really creepy one and it's a nice idea for Aniwood contest, the vector looks amazing (it's a vexel right?) the dark atmosphere fits perfectly with the wall and the pattern of the wall looks really good. The blood looks amazing too, great job!
Wow, what a coincidence!
I was just chatting with my friend about "The Tale of Two Sisters" and decided to visit animepaper and see if there's any good new walls. And this one just happened to be at the very top... Nice vector!
I love the colors you chose... it fits the whole idea of horror.
and they're both beautiful... especially how the wall behind them looked.. And when I look to the eyes of the one standing... it seems like it's going to transform into a soul and go straight in front of me^^ *oh well, that's just me*
faved!

Bloodpints on the sisters' dresses are very horrible. Darkness in the background and their cool faces are stopping my breath. They may be dramatic heroines in old tragic tale.
Woahhhh...
If this a screenshot of horror movie i will go under my bed^^
the blood seem real , its as if they two had eaten some fresh meat^^

The only think I feel like saying about this wall is that I like it, I really like it!
You've succeeded in the "transformation" of the scan! The vectoring of the girls is fantastic as is the redressing as well. Also, the textures used match pretty well the feeling of the original poster on which you based your work.
What can I say?! Bravo! Great job indeed!

Really beautiful work.
Browns, reds and greens work well together, plus texture you used fits perfectly.
Girl's eyes(the one who's standing) are stunningly pretty!
