As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!
My second attempt at a vector resulted in this. It took two days (obviously a lot less than the last one) and I kinda wished I'd gone with this idea before the other one, since Emma was a much simpler subject to work with.
I've had this idea in my head for awhile, and it was very clear until I started working on it. Then I started going back and forth on color schemes, how I wanted to color it, and finding those beakers to put in it.
The text is from (or a play on, I suppose) the song "She Blinded Me With Science" by Thomas Dolby.
Woot! Hooray for another Ace Attorney wallpaper!! But yours is faring much better than mine did, and I guess it's because of your vector. :D It's lovely! Absolutely perfect! You vectored Emma so well, and I think it's really creative of you to only use certain colors and textures on her...and wow, the title/text and background, it's so bright and contemporary! I don't think that's the right word, but yeah...it just looks so cool, what with the beakers and things around. "Science. She blinded me with it!" Haha, so true, so true. :3 You really did an awesome job here so it's being faved now! *faves* Congrats again on such a great wallpaper.
Ahaha I love the text! (and the colours and the design and the vectors...) Nice to see a new PW wall. ^_^ Really your vector is really good; the lines are so nice. And I like the patterns you incorporated into the wall too; they are subtle and don't overpower or distract. :) This one is so bright and fun, I just wish it was in 1280x800 res. TT^TT
Cute! I love the colors and the textures! The vector is also nicely done; it's just needs to be smoother. I think the tubes and such on the right side should vary some more in size to make the wallpaper more dynamic (not the word I'm looking for). Fav~
This wallpapers pretty decent. It's not the best, but it's certainly better than most and that's worth something. The main problem I have coming into the review of this is the white on white on the left side. If the characters lab coat is white, then I really don't like the white background, since I'd normally think you'd need something to offset that almost bleach white. However, the vibrant coloring on the right side and actually really well placed text helps make up for it and does most of the offsetting. The characters hair matching the style of the coloring only helps compliment her, which is surely a good thing for the focal point of the wallpaper. Overall I like this. Is it enough +Fav? I would say no after a little bit of thinking, but it's enough to give you the good old thumbs up. Good work.
^lol. I have quite a bit to say in response to that, but I shall reserve myself : >
Hello ~ We never met formally, but it was quite interesting and pleasant being graced by your presence yesterday on the shoutbox : ) Like I said, I would get to commenting this wall; I just apologize that it took me a little while x );; but hey : P I'm here now, and here we go ~
The first thing that caught my eye when I first saw this wall was the colours < 3 Oh my gosh, I love them x ] and then I saw that the character was from the game, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, that Cy had just mentioned earlier that day, and I was like x D sweet ~!Bright, vibrant colours + white usually hurt my eyes and lend to my distaste towards a piece : s but with this wallpaper, I find them fun and exuberant ~!x3 I also love the textures/patterns you used instead of solid colours as well : D I think it looks smexy < 3
For your second attempt at a vector, this certainly looks magnificently amazing, and I sincerely but modestly disagree with Spudsy's criticism of the white on white. I don't have much of a say in this as this is only a personal opinion, but I've always found that as long as a crisp, clean line is present to divide even the same colour into clear, distinct figures or pictures, that's fine. One small thing I'd point out though, looking at the piece in full size is that the black lines could be a bit crisper : x I'm not sure since I don't vector myself, but I think if you do the vectoring in higher resolution and shrink it down to fit the wallpaper later, it provides cleaner and crisper black lines. You might have to check with someone who actually knows what they're doing though : x I'm just a critic x3;; but like I said : P for your second vector ever, besides that small aspect, it looks great ~ Also x D as I was saying about the white on white : P it also isn't that bad since the patterned colours do highlight the picture and add quite a bit of aesthetic appeal x3 Now, you see ~ if the character was entirely white - even w/ outlines - on a white background, then I might agree more with the point Spuds was trying to make. No harm done though :3 As always with these sort of things, it's too each his own ^^
Additionally, on the subject of the awesome textured, patterned colours : P ~ the way you also incorporated that abstractly onto the right hand side of the wall, I thought, was a very nice touch ~ The beakers are adorable x3 and you see, for those : o you have a lot crisper and cleaner lines. If the character had those as well, it would make this piece even more perfect x3 (not to say it isn't amazing as is : P)
The splatter looks good and reminds me of the mixtures I used to spill in Chem class x D;; and then the text is awesome, too, and reminds me of the notes I used to scribble in all of my science classes x P Very suiting ~~~ The gradient of colour throughout the text is also quite attractively aesthetic :3 as they somewhat transition from the colour of hair all the way over to the bright yet dulled golden yellow where the abstract shapes start to come in x3 I agree that the text was also very well placed :3 and I love the title you gave this piece. The subtle yet pleasing deviations from the gold/orange colours such as the red and the green really enhance the piece overall ~ the face on the character's handbag is adorable x D and in its entirety, this piece came out pretty well :3
I usually don't agree with signatures placed in the actual wall itself, but you did it well here with the subtle line of colour underneath the text and small text with the "wallpaper by" and "animepaper" x3 Awesome, awesome wall ~ and I don't favourite wallpapers o.o but if I did :3 this definitely would have been one for me x3
Great job, ravenrogue : ) Keep up the good work and don't let what certain people say about your work get you down ; P or stop you from continuing to try ~ I hope to see you around : )
