This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
@Damo: Well when I click on it to sign it in, it takes a while to load and then a message appears saying "click troubleshoot and we'll repair the problem" Doesn't tell me what the problem is after.
Well, if you want to know more then I'll be available through PM or MSN, whichever is best for you. Rather not go further into on the SB of all places. =P
If this was a normal 'my-first-wallpaper' I'd prolly have a lot of nasty things to say, but although my eyes wants to focus on the right part of your wall (despite my best attempts to not do it!) I can't fail to notice that you really did a Okey job on the background. Hell I can't think of anything bad at all to say about it, you somehow captured the essence and made everything fit together - despite the background and foreground being so different. I like it, despite red and yellow being the colors enjoy the least.
Only thing I would be able to say something about is the text, but even that part is not bad at all.
God job, keep walling! I'll be sure to check out your future projects~
First of all, congratulations for getting your first wall submitted here on AP!
I really like Happou Bijin's artwork, so it's nice to finally see a wallpaper in that category. Now about your wall:
I honestly love the concept of those wavy lines and the flower-pedals following them like floating with the wind. I would like to give you some advice about it though, which is a long story:

For me, the waves look like they're going from left to right, because they start big on the left side and end small on the right. Logically, that would mean the pedals of the flower will follow the waves and fly towards the right. This is not the case in your wall. Of course, you can interpret the waves as going from right to left, like they're coming at you instead of moving away from you, which would make the picture all right. The reason that I'm not actually interpreting the correct flow (right to left) is because I, just like most non-Asian people, learned to read from left to right, so I automatically 'read' images from left to right as well.
To solve this, you can do 2 things:
1- flip the whole image.
2- make the pedals that are closer to the viewer (the ones toward the left) bigger. This way you create more depth, making it easier for the viewer to understand the flow goes from right to left.
How I know this? My present study involved 'screen design', where I learned how people scan the content on their monitor and what they focus on, which is of great help for when you're making graphical interfaces, websites, etc. But as said, it also goes for pictures in general.
The character is well extracted from the scan and filtered nicely to get that grungy look. The background is simple, but I see you tried to match the grungy style, which is nice. I would've liked to see just a little more depth in it, which you can create by f.i. burning (the Photoshop tool) some areas until it's deep, dark red.
The text fits the wall perfectly, credits for that.
Overall, a simple but fine wallpaper. Good luck on future projects.
Lovely! The coloring in the scan has some slight texturing to it and the background texture joins up with it nicely. Global light and coloring match too.
Very nicely put together. Love the layout and the sexy character in it. I'm not sure who she is, but it's making me want to check out whatever anime/manga she is from hahaha.
Congratulations for your first wallpaperin the Gallery i think its a great one, personelly i had made somemore color in the scan and i think its not clear enought formy taste or better say not sharp enought.
Like the Backgroung kep it up ;)
What's that classic formula? bikini girl + wallpaper = instant win? I believe I've seen the source image before so it's good to see a wallpaper made out of it. +fav~
Grah! I love that red so much! It's a cute and sexy wall too, nice and simple, love it. Of course, can't help but look at the flower for now, darn naming wallpapers to distract the mind. Heh. Nicely done though, especially for a first time.

The hardest part of creation was the background. I spent much of time to find something well.
Finally I am glad to have it finishes and I find that the result is not so badly.
