As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!
This is my wall made for Pool Party's first round in which the theme was Summer Solstice. my team walled in greyscale.
For those of you who don't have the same crazy mind as I do: she can't turn off the lights/lamp (~sun) even after plugging out because it's the longest day of the year.
I think it's funny :D So if you think this is lame I can not care about that ;P
I have to admit this is not as detailed and complex as my other works so in that aspect it might be surprising in a negative way, but here is something different, new from me and I really hope at least a few of you can enjoy. After all, this is why I share x3
PS: there's no textless. I didn't like those parts being empty and I do not have time to work on this one anymore. I have a few more to come before summer ends for real.
PS2: zomg this monitor ruined the contrast. best view on an asus monitor as I made it watching one.

It looks really cute ^^ maybe uber-cuteness and grayscale don't come together than well but you made it really nice ^^ and I like how made shadows and light, I see that original scan didn't had much of shading so you've doe a good job ^^

Fantastic wall! The shading is lovely, the background is very appealing, the text goes really well, and those flowers are nicely done. The fact that's it's greyscale too makes it even better because you notice everything you put into it. It did surprise me that's not that big of a resolution though. Definitely a +fav.
This definitely is one of my favorite walls from the first round... I love the concept! The monochrome worked really well too; as Deto pointed out most people don't wall cute in grayscale... esp Yotsubato I think, but this looks great. I'm not sure about the text overlapping Yotsuba, but that's it in terms of critique. I especially like all the subtle shading going on in the background.

I fell in love with monochromatic wallpapers recently. Her expression fits with your idea perfectly and she looks so clueless with the plug. Even though you said it's not as detailed and complex, I personally think it's even harder to come up with something that is simple and yet so creative.

Not only details can make a wall great - of course it is important, but if you have originality and ideas than a less detailed wall can be as much amazing az a detailed one without much idea.

Wow, this is so creative!! Your mind really does work in odd ways...and it's truly stunning! I wish my mind could think out of the box like that. :3 I mean, to go from that simple scan...with her in a winter outfit with a polar bear to this?? It's crazy! Simply amazing crazy. Your vector skills and just plain ol' artistic-ness is through the roof. :D How I envy you. This is a beautiful work~ Too bad it doesn't fit my monitor. XD Oh wells. Still a fave!
