This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
So for once I went for simpilcity or tried for it. I always loved Last Exile and I wanted to try making something from it, I found the scan of Alvis at APA, probably the hardest part was extracting the headphone cables from the original scan but after that it was all pretty easy, I made a simple blue sky for the bg then overlayed paper airplanes over that. Played with the colors and then added the muscial notes in the sky. That's about it, hope the Last Exile fans like it!

I like the colors and the idea of this wall very much.. but the effect on it (fullview) .. change the first good impression into a badly one : the wallpaper looks a bit unclean =( - thats my view.

it's just that the scan's edges look so very clean and soft, and the airplanes' look very jagged. it's also a very stark black, while the rest of the wall is muted and soft. So maybe softer edge colors for the planes..
I think it would look better if you vectored the paper airplanes and made them a lighter colour, otherwise I like this a lot, the colours are soft and nice.
Asahi said my thoughts exactly. I was appealed by the thumbnail and then very deceived by the quality of the paper airplanes when I saw the full-size. :-/ The music sheets aren't really useful for the composition too. It'd look better without. The clouds could have been way smoother and fluffy and the scan a bit more contrasted and cleaned. Work on your skills because I'm sure if you'd put a bit more effort into this wallpaper it would have turned out into a great masterpiece! :)
I am a big Last Exile fan. This wall is really good and is somewhat simple. The background suits Alvis. The colors in the sky along with the paper airplanes and music notes matches the mood of the series. This wall shows Alvis's innocence pretty well. Great wallpaper.
Pretty much to say, the background is really nice idea with those paper planes although its just too many of them >_< would be nicer if it is just few of them and on full view, the wallpaper is really unclean >_< you did a good job on the extraction though, really clean and smooth.
The only thing is just the paper planes which are really jagged so it doesn't fit quite well with the scan XD keep up your good work..
Hmm... there are too many paper airplanes, and their lines are really terrible...plus the background blends too much with the scan (specifically her skin)... too bad because the concept is nice

But I think it's too over crowded with the paper planes, it looks like a swarm of paper planes O.o
Maybe if you only add in a few it'll be better, just an honest opinion :D
Good job, adding it to my faves!
