As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

Ye mouton knows all ;) I am still a newbie with vectoring programs. In my journal is the progess so far for my Inkscape and AI project. The main difference I noticed so far is that in AI the pentool is editable at all times, in IS it is a different tool

Ctrl is useful when you want to control the angle of the vector. Shift is for asymmetric vector. You can combine the two also. One more thing, if you start an other path while pressing shift and that a former path is selected, the two will combined.

I only use ctrl for zooming, backspace I knew because it is the same in PS and AI. The shift and enter I didn't know, those are useful. I ended a path using right mouse on my last node

You have to finish the path to edit it with the node tool. You can finish a path by closing it up or by pressing enter. You can also go back in the path by pressing backspace. I also suggest you to try pressing shift and ctrl while using the Bezier tool^^

my entry for A.P.P.L.E.'s wallpaper competition: SUMMER

SCAN USED: Lucky Star'
---> i vectored konata and kinda blurred her so she'd fit in... she sticks out coz' the edges of the vector were sharp' and against a soft bg, it was ugly ~_~ so i had to soften her a bit.

BG:
---> the bg was directly from the scan, but i cleaned it and added some extensions, this was the easy part ^_^

total time spent: 3 hours

i was just looking at this scan for cloud ref
at first the bg looked really crappy
but when i got to the girl i forgot her name everything fits in perfectly
it give off the heat feeling of summer =D

Joing mass opinion, would be defintely better withot or with a other text. I myself would use less blur on the character, nice thing that you wanted to match, but also don't forget that she is closer, so is no problem when she is sharper as the BG.

On the description, it's the mother of Konata, Kanata.
The blur doesn't really work at all, try lessening it. The font of the text is fine however, the position annoys me. Try moving it.

Maybe someone already told you this, but she's not Konata. She's Kanata's, Kona's mom.

I always liked that CD cover, and now I'm happy to see someone did a Wallpaper version of it. It looks amazing :3 Though there could be some improvements on Kanata's hair, but it's overall nice.
