This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Tama-neko does it again. And again. And again! This time I could not resist, I really had to highlight this wallpaper due to its really cool concept and overall appeal.
Yes, it's Kino No Tabi, a serie that has been walled plenty and plenty of times by our mighty Tama, and sooner or later it was doomed to be highlighted. In this case, what I really love about it is the \"bird-eye\" perspective from above (which is absolutely not an easy thing to do) and the amazing re-drawing that Tama did in order to achieve a similar look to the original scan she started with. Add yellowish/greenish tones mixed together with texture, a very clean text and voilat there's an awesome wallpaper served on your desktop.
Oh and, it's her 200th wallpaper, so be sure to congratulate her!
So I'm taking a break from my Kino chapter illustration series to bring you this Kino wallpaper. When I got novel 9 I totally fell in love with this image. The overhead perspective, the newspaper clippings with glimpses of other characters (even Tea!), the pose... all were just wonderful.
I basically extracted Kino and her shadow and then proceded to redraw the background so that the vertical layout would fit a horizontal one. The blocks were redrawn in Photoshop. The newspaper clippings were cut out from the original and rearranged to fit the new arrangement. Add the ovular lighting, and some textures, and there you go.
After nearly 40 wallpapers using the same Kino logo, I decided to create a new one. It's about time, isn't it? The new logo is a little more compact and incorporates the Kino/Hermes picture in the official logo, and I like the font better as it's easier to read. The title was just the text that was originally on the image.
