After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!
This scan of the girl was patiently sitting and waiting stored somewhere in my psd folders to be finished and a few days ago I finally did finish vectoring and coloring it.
Everything else you see was painted from the scratch - the mountains, the sky, the sea (well, it looks more like a bay XD), the lighthouse, land, stairs and railings.
And yes, I nearly pulled out all of my hair while working on it. What can you do when your brain demands a nice little, picturesque sunset background and won't go for anything else...
Anyway, I know the shadows suck - I tried using some reference for them, but no matter how many times I tried, they always looked retarded so I guess this is the best I could come up with. -_-;
Added some textures and brushes later, as well as a few birds flying around to avoid the blankness in the left corner (bird brushes are from DA...I forgot from where exactly... >.>). Going with some suggestions from SZ, I smoothed the shadows a bit, added more mountains and accentuated some edges on them and the sea and added more depth to them by adding more color. And also fixed some lighting mistakes on the girl.
This was pretty much a painting practice, so please excuse the crappy colors of the water and mountains. Hopefully, it will be better next time. :3
So, that's about it. I hope you like. Comments (and faves) are welcome! XD
Actually, I think it's a pretty good wallpaper, and I don't think the shadows suck. They look downright fine to me! Sunsets and sunrises are always more difficult to handle than normal lighting anyway.
And I don't agree with you on the colors either, I for one love them ^_^ It's so difficult to find a good scenic wall with yellow and green in it! Thank you for making it! ^_^
Wow, this is really nice! First of all I love sunsets (obsessed is more like it) so that's what caught my eye first. Then there's the painting of the background, which looks great, and the realistic touch of gold on everything is beautiful. My favourite painted thing, however, is the girl. You did a great job on her. I don't like To-LOVE-Ru but I'm a fan of Haruna's character design. Overall nice work ^^
Whatever praises I gave you in SZ still holds, and whatever gripes/complaints I have is deleted x3 I love this wallpaper, especially after you fixed the mountains, shadows and lighting, and believe me, the shadow looks pretty convincing ^_^
Wow you really made the sunset color blend well in this wall ^^
i love it, the perspective gives the panoramic feeling in a different way O.o cool!
your painting is awesome T_T
good work and keep it up!^ô^

Don't get yourself down, its hard to paint everything from scratch and you did a great job of it. The only thing that bothers me is the ocean really, the waves look a little...big. Look at them and then look at the lighthouse, they would be like gigantic. xD
I also think that there should be some patch of ground in front of the mountain, it sort of looks like they're jutting strait out of the ocean, which with this wall is a little awkward.
Overall a great wall with a few awkward points but still gorgeous.
This is just an amazing piece of art! I really love sunsets and that landscape is really well painted
just one thing.. am i the only one who thinks it's weird to have green mountains next to the ocean? Guess that doesn't matter..
It really is a great wallpaper
Its nice to se you rwall on gallery makes some improvements.. and looks great... as every one said.. its a amazing how you create the sunset bleed with the wall... lovely... as in session zero saids... really love the work you made here.. +dwl.. and keep doing beautifull walls as this one.....

Coloring in the wallpaper is very wonderful. They are drawing natural atmosphere of sunset without sun. Her pose with shyness hiding her back is interesting. It make her be more attractive.
Absolutely awesome i love your way of perspective and let me tell you something, sunset colors vary of the BG and its very difficult to adaptate them.
you made an awesome work
:3 It is a beautiful, picturesque scene.
I love the entire stairs-area, and the scenery is wonderful.
My only complaint is the water looks too... continuos and "layed out"? o-O
Beautiful work, though, really.
Making it from scratch is impressive. The setting looks nice -- I'm wondering if there's a hidden meaning at all though. I do have the anime around somewhere...
Now this is an interesting wall!
First of all, yes the shadows are very wrong, but so is the whole perspective. Thing is though, the wall has some sort of expressionistic style, which basically makes you forget about those things, because it's all part of the style.
I love it how everything in the wall 'flows' towards the same side. You definitely got a great feel for that.
I do have some points of critique:
The texturing on the lighthouse is too flat (even though the lines are very rough and jumpy, overall they run straight, which is impossible on a cylinder shaped object).
Also, I don't like some outlines on the character and railing. Especially the ones on the shirt are in too much contrast with the background. It's weird because your work on the legs and bag is fantastic regarding that. Also the hair is a bit too shiny and smooth.
All in all though, this truly is a work of art. Fantastic paining-like feel and the style you picked really works great. Very original too.
I thought i might see this in the gallery soon when i saw it in session =D
the girl and stairs are just awesomely done
but the waves look a lil awkward
This is gorgeous! deserves a higher rating, but anyways two things: 1) the gray shadow on the metal thing would look better with the darker parts slightly blue or purple and 2) the shadows cast on the stairs make them look wonky, they should be perpendicular to the floor, if that makes any sense, in other words parallel to the edge.
Wow, so pretty~ This is a really lovely and warm scene you created! Hah, you sound like me with my wallpaper. XD Talking about having to do it all by scratch and then working so hard! And also complaining about the shadows. *laugh* Just like me. Hah, but I totally disagree with all of that! You did so well! I think all the shadows are perfect. O__o I couldn't do this at all...the colors are so soft and warm...the vector is wonderful, the overall scene is perfect. ^^
Though at first, I couldn't tell that was an ocean/bay. ^^; It looked like a field to me, lol. I think it's because of the colors of it, and also because of the strokes in there that are supposed to be waves...just look more like grass? And I think maybe the angle of it is off...shouldn't the water be at an even straight across angle with the steps still going up? It's like the world is on its side! But hey, I don't really know much about perspective. And believe me, this will probably get an S or something. XD After all, it already has a B after only 7 hours!! Great work + fave~ [and thanks for your comment/fave on my wall, too~]

Great work on the painting~ I understand how hard it is to paint things from scratch with little to no reference. You've done a good job on this one.
I really like the scene, it's very nice and the lighthouse is very cute.
