After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!
If it wasn't painfully obvious it's Kagura with Byakuei and Yomi with Nue/Ranguren from the recent Ga-rei Zero. I really liked the anime and searched for a wallpaper for it. Unfortunately I couldn't find a wallpaper I was satisfied with and decided to make my own.
I started on this almost 2 months ago. I initially worked on it almost every day for 3-4 weeks and then took a break because I got caught up in a game qq. Then when I was doing my daily animepaper drive by, I saw someone beat me into vectoring this beautiful scan. Of course, I was disappointed in myself for slacking but because of that I started up this project again and finished it, swooot.
I have no idea on the exact time it took me vector the scan. Hours upon hours were stacked upon each other. I had a couple of days where I used up half of the day on vectoring. All I can say is that it took a really long time. I vectored it in it's native resolution 2950x2480 to get clean lines later on by scaling it down by 1/4-1/3 it's original size. I traced everything with the pen tool... in shapes. Yes, each line you see is one big humongous shape. Tracing with the pen tool and then stroking is bad-bad-bad! You will not get the varying line widths which all stack up in the end. I tried to stick to my rule of coloring everything by selection and gradients but I ended up brushing almost half of the chains to get it over with. The chains were a real pain.
The second challenge was the background. I went through a ton of backgrounds. I even had them up in space at one point, geezus. My most favored idea was to add steel supports and some cloth but I couldn't get the colors right and scrapped all of that. I didn't want to do flames because it's really lame but it was really the only thing I could do. I couldn't do some crazy background design because it wouldn't go with the color intensity of the scans.
I am sorry that no 1280x1024 resolution is available. Too much of the characters would be cut off and too much of the background would be covered if I moved things around. So I just scrapped it. ><

I like this one better than the other one that used this same image, because yours shows more of the characters, has more detail, and more natural and realistic lighting. Good job. :)
Beautiful job. I really do enjoy the work you put into this one. The background you've chosen is most fitting for the scene. The sparks flickering and flying off is very well done as well - it adds great motion to the entire piece. Your work on the chains is wonderful as well. You can really see the detail behind each link which is very impressive since many fail to carry through with vectoring chains.
One question, I'm wondering why you chose to use a lighter brown for Yomi's shoes while you stuck to the darker brown/black with Kagura - distance of the flame?
I really like seeing members make walls other than the normal bleach, code gease, and naruto themed ones. I have to say you did a great job with the flame and feeling of this wall.
Very beautiful work. I like fire, and battle of these heroes. A background simply smart for such battle! All is qualitative, beautiful also anything superfluous.

i can see only one small, but to me very irritating flaw:
the tip of yomis sword - i think the way its sharpened is totally wrong and should be fixed
with that removed id call it absolutely perfect

As Dalarty mentioned previously, I do find the fact that the black clad girl's shoes are darker than the other's (and also mentioned, wouldn't the glow from the flame make the darker shoes lighter?), but that's just a minor issue.
Well done with the vectoring, you did a superb job =) Even if you did procrastinate somewhat, what matters is that you managed to successfully complete it! So well done.
Brilliant wallpaper, the vectoring and the feel of this wall is something else, it's very a battle to end all battles kinda look and I like it!
