This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
Okay I started this wall a month ago with a completely different idea of a natural scenery (you know the mountians and trees and all them purdy stuff) but...it turns out I am completely clueless when it comes to landscaping...so eventually everyday I worked on this wall a little by little over the month and eventually came up with what's before you.
First that big blob of crap I call a cloud was painted by me (yea I know it sucks, but I've spent alot of time trying to fix that) then I overlayed parts of stock images of clouds over it so the sky wouldn't look as bland.
Second, the builings were basically cut and paste parts a the city here and there, then smudge a little, then add some black shadows near the bottom (too lazy and unskilled to reacreate the harbour)
Third, I then painted the water (notice how much it sucks?) and the played with the perspective to make it look right, not much else to say here
I wanted the city to look like this image of Gotham City I saw around a month or 2 ago, and the name is foreshadowing the city's imminent doom after sunset.
Now if you've read this far...then you have a longer attention span then me because it took me 15 minutes just to type up to here...
And BIG thanks to dhias and xcf33 for their comments and crits and also some resources.
O wow really nice. these types of layouts are usally really nice if done correctly. and also nice buildinging in the back. your blends of color are really coridinated too. great job
The background is jawdropping. The colors matches very well with the theme you're aiming at for the wall. The clouds fit nicely with the mood of the wall, they could been seen as clouds, or explosions, which is cool, it leaves people wandering what it is and stuff. The lighting and shadowing on the Eva is done nicely. Again, I like the dark vibe it gives off. Very nice wall. Good job! ^^
Hey nice dark stile like a sad afternoon , it really gives the impresion that the eva is kind of crying or suffering about it´s mision you have have made visual poetry with that wallpaper thanks for sharing it !!!

I don't like the texture you used on the sky parts of the wall; it makes it look more like a low-quality stock image more than anything. I think your better off going with a painted/watercolor look more than anything else. The text and the city look really nice, but the sky detracts from the rest.
The background actually looks awsome... Nice placement also the shadow effect looks superb... Deffinetly worth a download and a fav... A job well done... hope to see more of your wallpaper in the near future...
