Meh! A wallpaper about the newest anime, Eureka 7! \o/

This anime has started airing recently, but already had a lot of "hype" around it, and when I got to watch the first episodes I totally fell in love with it. So guess what, I decided to make a wallpaper about it. That was about 2 weeks ago, then I eventually found out that Kozumura and Brom were working as well on a wallpaper about Eureka 7, so my wall was supposed to be the second submission, but then again nat preceeded me and submitted her masterpiece about eureka 7, lol. So this is the third wallpaper in a row about this anime.

The two characters (Renton, the boy, and the girl Eureka) have been completely vectored in Illustrator starting from the original scan, which was mostly covered with text. I planned to vector the whole scan but then I realized that the spread had the central part of the mech missing, so I just vectored Renton and Eureka and invented a new scene for them, keeping the same position they have in the original scan. It took me a week to do both vectors, and I am glad of the results because it looks quite close to original scan smiley.

The background has been realized for the most part with the single use of the smudge tool (I still don't know how I did it lol, must be the power of the smudge tool itself, lol), I recreated the same kind of landscape that is shown in the anime with those weird hills, cliffs and slopes. To do that I had to watch the episodes a few times and take a lot of screenies to have some reference on how to draw them. Smudging is fun! lol
