As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!
This wallpaper is untitled, so please feel free to suggest a name. (^o^) This is my first time creating a background scene, so it probably is not very good to other people.
[edit] Oh yeah, also please suggest a font I should use!
Nice wall, but I believe background is not congruent. In the night the grass wouldn't look that green, and the white trees look too bright for a night scene.
Also, if you look at the character's shadows, you'll notice that the light source is over them, so consider switch title and moon's places.
Hope to see this one soon on the gallery, good luck!
I'll see what I can do. The reason I put the moon to the left, was because it looked lopsided when I put it at the right. (Like there was an empty space I could not fill up. >__<)
Ah, the standard "characters in a field of grass at night" wall. Good for starters and a nice way to get some practise in Photoshop.
Anyway, I have 4 tips for you:
1- The grass looks a bit flat and is waaay too big in the foreground. Please check this tutorial.
2- Give more space to the characters! Those are -or should be- the most important part of an anime wallpaper! Make them fill half the screen, so that they're also realistically bigger than the grass.
3- The trees in the background need more accentuation, by giving them some backlight (glowing edges, etc.)
4- There are stars IN FRONT OF THE MOON. That's kinda odd considering the stars are -apart from the sun- a gazillion times further away from us than the moon.
I'll try to see what I can do. (>__<);;; As for the stars in front of the moon thing, that wasn't really done on purpose. The brush I used for the moon is translucent. xD That's the largest size that render came in, so all I can do is shrink the wallpaper, but leave the characters like that.
I like the idea but I think you should change the brightness and/ or contrast of the main picture (Inuyasha and Kikyo) to suit the overall, darker lighting of your background. And perhaps blue the background trees a bit, so the 'realistic' photo stock image you used won't stand out too much from the cell-shaded anime picture in the foreground. And it will also add some nice depth to the wall.
