I am back! Long time no see.

I am dedicating this wallpaper to my boyfriend who introduced me to the Haruhi series.

[spams you badly]ALTERNATIVE TITLE: The Resurrection of Haruhi Suzumiya. After a series of dead Haruhi walls, I am here to present you Haruhi and Kyon. And oh yeah THEY ARE ALIVE. Well, we can't do anything about it after all.[/spams you badly]

I present you my entry for the War over at povism.org. This was made for the battle between Vertigo Assembly and Crimson Orchestra. The theme is Stylized Depth. And you know what? WE WON!! VA pwns eternity!
It's my first time participating in a War and I've got to say that not only is the experience great, but it gives you motive to improve.

NOTE: I think you should know that this wallpaper's concept is more than two weeks old. Therefore, it has nothing to do with the most recent walls that have been added to the gallery.

After working on this piece for two weeks non-stop, I think I can rest in peace... *dies*

Nah, not yet. Heck, I've got a description to make.

| CONCEPT |
This is a real-life experience!
Once upon a time, there was a period in my school when there was weird stuff going on. There was a series of thefts and the school was in upheaval. The teachers decided that surveillance videocameras should be put in classrooms. Immediately after that, our class protested by taking over the school. By no means would we accept to be observed on an everyday basis. We wanted to be able to move and feel as if we were home and not like we were taking part in a reality show like Big Brother or something! TEACHERS LEAVE THOSE KIDS ALONE is written on the blackboard at the back. That's why I decided to name this wall "Proper Education".

Here is how I made this wall. Don't worry, I have illustrated it so that you won't have to read through it twice or dunno how many times to understand.

- First off, I used this Persona scan as a base for the background. Thanks a lot * Myaje!

I drew the lineart and then, using perspective techniques I expanded the scan which basically formed the background.

The vanishing point got all messed up. >.> Anyway, it took me so long to make it look like that since the perspective is kinda... round.

- Then I started working on bringing my concept to life.

- I decided to make the main part of the wall be in a circle in order to give the camera feeling. It's not quite there yet but if you keep reading, you'll see. Then I started painting by putting base colors on separate layers.
Just so you know, throughout the making of this wall the only brush I used is the "Airbrush Hard Round" that can be found in Photoshop's (CS2) default brushes.

- Next, I started drawing the details, shadows, highlights and got this after lots of painting:

Note that I wanted to make the painting identical to the scan. I didn't achieve it but the result was okay.

- I picked two scans from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu.

Then started drawing the lineart of Haruhi and Kyon and colored a separate layer white so that I could see the lineart clearly when coloring. I decided to paint them on the background so that I could actually blend them with the style of the bg.


- I painted them and added their shadows and their reflections on the desks.


- I drew the blackboard and with a chalk brush in a separate layer at 30% opacity I wrote random things like E=mc², etc. In another layer at 80% opacity I wrote "TEACHERS LEAVE THOSE KIDS ALONE". It was really fun.


- To add more depth, I drew simple buildings that can be seen from the windows.


- Then with the airbrush I made the round area look like a lens, drew circles at the black area to fill the emptiness and made it look more like a camera. I fixed some details and finally, I added lens blur.

| BONUS |
As you can see, this wall was designed to be widescreen but since there's too much black there, I made the 1600x1200 version which VA people liked more. So I decided to stick to that rather than widescreen. Don't worry, I have uploaded the widescreen version for those who want it.
