Hi again :)
This is my third wallpaper - and I hope you like this one as much as you liked the others (or maybe even more?? :D)
I worked on it about 70 hours.
My work could have been divided into 3 parts: the close scene of Aoi and Kaoru,
the far one and the background.
I captured the appropriate scenes in the "Enishi" special, where Kaoru meets Santa-Aoi. Then I started Adobe Illustrator and began to vector trace the close scene. It was quite easy, because I saw all the shadows and highlights I had to draw. The more difficult scene was the far scene, because I couldn't see all the parts of the
face of each of the persons. So I had to try to use the faces from the close scene and
seemlessly integrate them.
The most interesting part was the background: I had a vision of it before I even start
vector tracing the images. But how to get a pine tree in a position I could use for this
wallpaper? Simple: thanks goddess I know a friend who has 3D Studio MAX and the plug-in "Tree Storm" (and a very powerful PC to render the stuff on ^^). So I asked him to let me use his 3dsmax and placed a tree (300000 polygones are quite much :> ) and rendered it. Then I opened all the source files I had (finally about 90mb ^^) and started to create a composition. I positioned here and there and finally came to the decision to let the scene take place on a dark, cold winter-evening... winter... wait! Yes! I had to create some snow on the tree and on the bridge side. So ... Photoshop was my friend.
I just started by randomly clicking on a newly made layer with a white round and soft
brush... and ... it looked like snow! So I put more and more of it onto the tree and the bridge. Of course it's by far not the best way to put some snow - and if it is - I am the wrong person to do this (I am not really good at hand-drawing). But to me (and some of my friends I asked to look at the wallpaper) it looks quite convincing (though of course there are much better possibilities :). Finally I blured that layer.
One more thing left to say: someone told me he/she didn't like the faces in the background. I thought so too for a moment - but on the other hand I really do like it, because it creates a nice, cold-evening atmosphere - or at least it stresses it.
I really like Ai Yori Aoshi. And in contrast to other animes, where I only like the
female characters - I don't mind to look at Kaoru too, since he is really a poor guy and I somehow sympathesize with him. Of course I like all the other characters - but that scene touched me to tears when I saw the Enishi special for the first time.
I hope you like this wallpaper as much as I liked doing it :)
Of course - as always - I am very thankful for any critics (especially if you could suggest what would be better :D)
Enjoy!
