This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Process

I vectored Matsuri from this scan... :)
try to vector using a new method I just learned...the basic vector was done in Coreldraw 12, then change the blending in Illustrator CS (coz I can't vector in AI), then added a few effects in Photoshop CS...
WIP1 WIP2
then I painted the sky using Photoshop CS (this was done coz of the competition rules that won't allow me to use stocks...=_=", don't blame me if it's crappy, anyway...)
still...this vector is still vectored by thousands dots (referring to my last wallpaper b4 this one)...

Purpose

for GFC vs Ohayou competition (I pwned almost perfectly by `shigemitsubaki using this wallpaper, 3 vs 10 ...=_=")
-for Forget Me Not forgotten category
-for vectorness monthly challenge

please join Ohayou, a place to help whoever is new to walling
Forget Me Not, a group who shall revive the forgotten category

nice soft colours used, and the sky blends well with the vector. although it states tht you can't use stocks, no one ever said anything about cloud brushes that you could've used for reference for painting. nice colours though..so ima gonna fave xD

anyway, the vector is good, but the gaussian blur tech still need practice... use the rubber tool too =P
there are some places that have a pointless blue light or whatever that is, mainly one the hair/ arm, torso... but that is fixable

AHH dammit, i hate stroke lines ... anyway, you have a skill to be proud =P

It looks like the blue-straight-line which I saw before has been removed :] You are really talented in vector and I agree with Danalm that you have a skill to be proud of. Great details on her hair, really amazing. The sky looks great, but a bit empty for my taste. It doesn't change the fact that you have did a great job though. Keep up the good work ^^

Excellent job on the vector! It rocks! You did a great job on the painted sky as well. The soft blue colors really give the wall a calm sence and, in combination with her expression, the feeling of being as free like a bird. Overall a great wall that certainly deserves a +fav!
