This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.
While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.
This is an illustration for my friend and my fiction "Lost Butterfly." The guy is Crawford and the girl is Lenyuu.
This picture, I used more than 70 layers in Photoshop to finish it. ^^a
The butterfly and sakura pattern were from the following sites: http://m-cat.net/
Heh, I've gotta agree; Clow Reed and Yuuko. But there are definite differences, so it's still original art :O And now I'm interested in the story you're mentioning in your wall description.
Anyways, it's executed quite well; the smoke and the falling petals add a simply elegant background to a rich and gorgeous foreground of elaborately costumed characters. The text on this wall actually adds to it, and the stylized butterfly adds to the text, and therefore the entire overall wall.
Oh wow!
So awesome!^^

The butterfly in the title is actually my favorite part about this wall ^_^;; That isn't meant to be bad though! This wallpaper is beautifully done and I love it, just the butterfly is prettiest to me XD
Gotta agree with the people. It does look like Clow Reed and Yuuko.
Anyways, putting that aside, I really like it. The image and bg fit together really well. ^_^
