The vector (s) looks pretty cool.

I like the idea for the BG, but… Hmm… It does feel kinda flat. First, the lighting for the overall scene could have been more “dramatic” and less even (like in the series perhaps…). Right now the lighting is neither bad nor that interesting and strong.

Texture work within the scene is not strong enough (Ex: the desk and chair) and at the same time lacking (Ex: walls). Textures are also way to clean looking, making the objects in the scene look like brand new, which I’m sure isn’t the intent here (Ex: the desk should look somehow damage by time and by the fall, same goes for the chair, walls, and floor. That is, if people actually work, live, and commute there, if not, well… They still should look kinda dirty / used, though).

Also, it would have been nice to have made the floor light reflective instead of all matte.

I’m always mentioning this, but playing with DOF would have also added a new extra layer of depth to the overall scene. It makes things more interesting and somehow “realistic” looking. (Ex: There is no need to have the outside perfectly on focus when there is nothing really interesting happening there. Same thing goes for the farthest part of the background in the room).

Perspective wise, I don’t find anything too noticeable to point out. Well, besides the pink book with the kanji/hiragana written in it. It does look weird.

Even after all these, I do like it. I like the fact you worked on a background of your own and not just extended the background shown in the scan. Creativity / original idea = pure win.

Good work, but IMO the main char should be rather at the center. That way the left portion of the wall doesn't fall into being too plain with just the table and the chair.
